i have a 02 TJ and i have to fix my transmisson.

HELP ME.

I have a '97 TJ and found out the hard way my check plug was on the passenger side and it was an AX 5. The Ax 15 has the check plug on the driver's side. On the driver's side of my AX 5 the plug says "Never remove this plug."

AX-5s are in 4 cyl. AX-15 are in 6 Cyl. :smug:

I thought the '02's had the NV3550?

i dont know. the HAYNES book never said what motor went with what trans.
THX to all with the info. so anyone have a spare AX-15 that is built strong, or a junk one that is shoot. my 2ed & 3ed gear syncos are shoot. and i need a new one, or rebuild a junk one. ether way i need to fix it.

Stop driving in neck deep water!! that should help...

Did you check Craigslist yet... I see the AX-15's come through there once in a while...

I've got one, but you'll need to swap the back half of the housing where the tranny mounts are.

i gess 02 TJ's and newer have the NV3550. so i wit upgrade to the NV4500
so now that i've got that info dose anyone have a NV3550 or NV4500 to sell me.

i droped the jeep off at the shop today for the transmission & the clutch, i'll get it back latter this week. i'll let ya'll know how it works out. M-KAY.

no it cast me $1800, got a new clutch assembly, fly wheel, transmission rebuild.

Find the vent on your transmission and put a breather hose. Next time you do water crossings you'll have less contamination chances.

aaargh! sorry I missed this...my AX15 is for sale on Craigslist complete with new(er) centerforce clutch $800 (am swapping to 32rh automatic)

the AX-15 would not have worked. i needed a NV-3550
