Subject: Jeep Manual and Wiring
Can someone tell me if the typical manuals found at the auto parts store (Chilton, etc..) contain detailed wiring diagrams? I need one for a 2000 TJ.
Additionally, has anyone used the the factory pigtail that plugs into the blank bezel and know where those wires come out in the harness? I am trying to tie in my extra set of PIAA lights using the existing factory wiring.

Me and Rick Norman were at the Junkyards yesterday, and found a ton
of 60's. Escpecially at the Pull-a-part on Broadway.

Subject: Suggestions..
Okay, I am installing the JKS Manufacturing bar pin eliminators on the rear
shocks. I have the back right (closest to exhaust) already on and installed.
However, on the other side, the holes that were previously used were cross-
threaded. So I wentt o Ace hardware, and got a 5/16'' tap to re thread the
hole. So at the Coves clean up, used a small wratchet to re thread both of the
holes. I got one through and it worked great. Started on the second hole and
the tap broke in half, so now I've got half of a tap stuck in that hole and the
other half in my tool box. Any suggestions on how to get that out ? Thanks in
advance!

Yeah, but I was using the same logic that Tom applied when locking his
D35 axle. I figured if I was gentle, a locker with my stock AMC20 axles
would do for awhile.
See, I had enough money to buy a rear locker OR upgrade to one piece
axles. This was back in my college days when all my Jeep upgrades were
funded by the change collected in my change jar. (Yes, I actually
cashed in about $300 worth of quarters, nickels, and dimes to buy the
locker.) The voice in my head told me I should do the axles first, but
lockers are much more fun. Besides, stock amc20 axles are cheap. I
went through two of them before I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to
the one piece axles.

Don't know about the Chiltons, but the FSM's are really good (yes, it has *complete* wiring diagrams). They may seem expensive at first, but I certainly wouldn't be without one, considering the amount of work done on the Jeep ;)

Drill a small hole on the tap, and use a tool to thread it back out.
I don't know what the tool is called but the look like a punch,
except they are square instead of round and have grooves on each side
so they "grab" when you turn them. I've used them in the past to pull
out head bolts out of blocks, oil pan bolts, etc. The ones I've used
were Craftsman. My dad's tool box was stolen so we don't have them
anymore. Good luck

Keith Bowcut is leading a Woodpecker (Upper) trail run on Saturday, November 16, 2002.
When: Trip will leave at 9:25am
Where: We will meet at the open area at the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon road off the hwy 79.
Rating: 4.0+
Length: 3-4 hours
CB Channel: 24
We will all meet at the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon road to air down and get acquainted. We will stop somewhere on the trail to have lunch, so bring food, water, a camera and your family. If anybody has ANY questions feel free to contact me.
Upper Woodpecker is a wash that runs to the Woodpecker Mine. Years ago this wash was the actual road from the mine. There have been many hours of fun playing and traversing on this trail. It offers rock ledges, cracks, "tippy spots" and is the home of the infamous "Fire Hole". It was one of the first "extreme" trails offered in Arizona.
Over the years this trail has seen the result of "rock stacking" and "ramp building" that has down rated the trail from a 4.5 to a 4.0 but it still has a number of "play areas" and lockers are still required for the harder portion of the trail.
Upon exiting the wash you will climb to the top of the hill where the mine is located. There is an amethyst pit mine near the entrance to the Woodpecker Mine where you will most likely find several "rock hounds" or mountain bikers.
Don't forget your lunch and water. This is one of the longer trails and is normally an all day trip.

When you look at Dana 60s... make absolutely sure you are getting an axle
which either has, or will support, the larger 35 spline axle shafts... there
may be tons of Dana 60s out there; but I think you'll find most of them have
the smaller axles in them; and modifying them to carry the bigger axle
shafts can be very expensive.
If you don't know the difference... spend some time learning before you go
purchase your Dana 60 axle or you could learn a very expensive lesson.

They are called easy outs and good luck on drilling a hole in a tap. Try
taking a small screw driver(very small) put it against one of the flutes of
the tap and tap the screw driver with a hemmer in the direction to unscrew

I don't know what the tool is called but the look like a punch,
except they are square instead of round and have grooves on each side
so they "grab" when you turn them. I've used them in the past to pull
out head bolts out of blocks, oil pan bolts, etc. The ones I've used
were Craftsman. My dad's tool box was stolen so we don't have them

Okay, I am installing the JKS Manufacturing bar pin eliminators on the rear
shocks. I have the back right (closest to exhaust) already on and installed.
However, on the other side, the holes that were previously used were cross-
threaded. So I wentt o Ace hardware, and got a 5/16'' tap to re thread the
hole. So at the Coves clean up, used a small wratchet to re thread both of the
holes. I got one through and it worked great. Started on the second hole and
the tap broke in half, so now I've got half of a tap stuck in that hole and the
other half in my tool box. Any suggestions on how to get that out ? Thanks in

Yeah, but I was using the same logic that Tom applied when locking his
D35 axle. I figured if I was gentle, a locker with my stock AMC20 axles
would do for awhile.
See, I had enough money to buy a rear locker OR upgrade to one piece
axles. This was back in my college days when all my Jeep upgrades were
funded by the change collected in my change jar. (Yes, I actually
cashed in about $300 worth of quarters, nickels, and dimes to buy the
locker.) The voice in my head told me I should do the axles first, but
lockers are much more fun. Besides, stock amc20 axles are cheap. I
went through two of them before I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to
the one piece axles.

Yeah, but I was using the same logic that Tom applied when locking his
D35 axle. I figured if I was gentle, a locker with my stock AMC20 axles
would do for awhile.
See, I had enough money to buy a rear locker OR upgrade to one piece
axles. This was back in my college days when all my Jeep upgrades were
funded by the change collected in my change jar. (Yes, I actually
cashed in about $300 worth of quarters, nickels, and dimes to buy the
locker.) The voice in my head told me I should do the axles first, but
lockers are much more fun. Besides, stock amc20 axles are cheap. I
went through two of them before I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to
the one piece axles.

Keith Bowcut is leading a Woodpecker (Upper) trail run on Saturday, November 16, 2002.
When: Trip will leave at 9:25am
Where: We will meet at the open area at the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon road off the hwy 79.

Length: 3-4 hours

We will all meet at the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon road to air down and get acquainted. We will stop somewhere on the trail to have lunch, so bring food, water, a camera and your family. If anybody has ANY questions feel free to contact me.
Upper Woodpecker is a wash that runs to the Woodpecker Mine. Years ago this wash was the actual road from the mine. There have been many hours of fun playing and traversing on this trail. It offers rock ledges, cracks, "tippy spots" and is the home of the infamous "Fire Hole". It was one of the first "extreme" trails offered in Arizona.
Over the years this trail has seen the result of "rock stacking" and "ramp building" that has down rated the trail from a 4.5 to a 4.0 but it still has a number of "play areas" and lockers are still required for the harder portion of the trail.
Upon exiting the wash you will climb to the top of the hill where the mine is located. There is an amethyst pit mine near the entrance to the Woodpecker Mine where you will most likely find several "rock hounds" or mountain bikers.
Don't forget your lunch and water. This is one of the longer trails and is normally an all day trip.

which either has, or will support, the larger 35 spline axle shafts... there
may be tons of Dana 60s out there; but I think you'll find most of them have
the smaller axles in them; and modifying them to carry the bigger axle
shafts can be very expensive.
If you don't know the difference... spend some time learning before you go
purchase your Dana 60 axle or you could learn a very expensive lesson.

They are called easy outs and good luck on drilling a hole in a tap. Try
taking a small screw driver(very small) put it against one of the flutes of
the tap and tap the screw driver with a hemmer in the direction to unscrew
the tap out of the hole.

I don't know what the tool is called but the look like a punch,
except they are square instead of round and have grooves on each side
so they "grab" when you turn them. I've used them in the past to pull
