I think that would really piss me off.
Is there anything we can do as a club to change this?
For the time being I will remove my phone number and then give it out when

Subject: Cove clean up
I would like to thank everyone who participated in the clean up this
weekend. We have a great turn out and we picked up a lot of trash. The
Forest Service gave us 200 bags and we used almost all of them. It was great
meeting some of you and hope to see more of you in the future. I would like
to give special thanks to those that came out early to help setup and would
also like to thank the following for their help.
Mike Baney - getting sponsors involved and collecting give away prizes and
the great T-shirts are those assume or what!
Gary Homes - For the name tags
Joe Kearney - Direction signs to the different coves
Bronson Murray - for bring out his grill and helping with the cooking duties
Gloria my wife - for helping with the cooking duties
P.S. As I was talking to the Forest Service Saturday morning they told me
that they had sent some delegates out to the Sycamore creak area to look it
over. They did not like what they saw and are going to recommend it be shut
down. The Forest Service said if it gets shut down it will be shut down for
30 to 40 years! Lets keep our eyes and ears open on this issue, I think we
will have a fight on out hands to keep it open.

Subject: Fee Demo Update
This Fall, a few things have happened on the Fee Demo front. This
update includes: 1) a legislative update; 2) an update of Fee Demo in
the courts; and 3) an update on resolutions against Fee Demo.
---
1) Legislative Update
Legislatively, two bills were introduced this year to make Fee Demo
permanent. One would make the program permanent for the Park Service,
Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Land
Management.
The other would make Fee Demo permanent only for the Park Service.
Nothing has happened with either of these bills; nor with previous
bills
to end or make permanent the program. With a "lame-duck" Congress
coming back into session soon, nothing should be expected to happen.
Additionally, some key proponents of Fee Demo, including James Hansen
of
Utah, will no longer be in Congress in the next session.
Once the new Congress begins, we'll need to have a new round of
letters
to Congress; not only to alert new members of Congress that Fee Demo
should be ended, but to remind continuing members that we still don't
want to see a permanent program.
---
2) Fee Demo in the Courts
There has been movement in the courts on Fee Demo recently as well.
Terry Dahl, a Fee Demo protester from Santa Barbara, lost his appeal
to
the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on October 11. They ruled that the
Forest Service could apply the fee to any forest visitor, regardless
of
their activity -- including passing out literature against Fee Demo.
However, the court also ruled that a violation of the program is only
an
infraction, punishable by a maximum $100 fine (with no possible jail
time). The Forest Service had attempted to make a violation a class B
misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $5000 and/or 6 months in jail.
The attorney on the case, Mary Ellen Barilotti, has filed to have her
appeal on behalf of Mr. Dahl reconsidered by the court. None of the
constitutional issues, or conflicts with existing law were addressed
by
the court.
The Fee Demo Legal Challenge Fund continues to seek donations to
support
the ongoing effort to appeal Mr. Dahl's case, as well as the class
action lawsuit filed on behalf of citizens harmed by Fee Demo. Go to
http://www.freeourforests.org/legalfund.html for more information,
including how to donate.
---
3) Sedona City Council Opposes Fee Demo
On October 22, the Sedona City Council voted 5-2 to pass a resolution
to
restore proper funding for public lands in order to eliminate the
Recreational Fee Demonstration Program known in the Sedona area as the
"Red Rock Pass." One of the dissenting votes came from a council
member
calling for a stronger resolution. This makes Sedona the 26th
government to pass a resolution opposing Fee Demo, including 4 state
legislatures, 16 counties, and 5 other cities.
The Arizona No Fee Coalition, which helped make this resolution come
to
be, plans to bring more resolutions to other governments in Arizona.

I don't doubt that at all and I wasn't slamming anyone. I hope that was clear. I just thought the address to apply to was funny.
I know some of the guys that used to work at ORU are looking for jobs in the 4x4 industry. I talked to one of them not to long ago and got the "low down" on what was going on with ORU. He also talked about a new 4x4 shop coming to the valley. If they haven't heard about this place, this post might help them. I know they lurk here.
You mentioned that the new store is going in around CC & Broadway. That's interesting. Only about a mile away from ORU, maybe there is more to this....

I didn't think they knew what a Jeep was in Compton. You would have
to visit Compton to know what I am talking about. There have been
some great basketball players that came from there though.
Thanks for the information Ed, I just couldn't resist.
No, I am not being racist this is the truth, I am not a racist and I
sure wouldn't walk through Compton. To give you an idea, my son went
there for a BB torunament in Compton and walked to get some fast
food. The police stopped him, put him in the patroll car and took him
back to the Hotel. They told him that people of my son's color
shouldn't be walking through Compton alone. My son didn't argue.

I got a call from Ray Bordon from Primerica, a division of CitiGroup.
He told me they were looking to open new offices and were looking for
people for management positions. At first I thought it was someone
that had just gone to the AZVJC website and grabbed the phone
numbers. I looked him up and he is a new member so I thought it might
be legit. He said he talked to a few members in the club and they had
said I'm a good guy.
Anyone remember talking to Ray Bordon about "good guys" in the
AZVJC??? He has a mostly stock black '95 YJ if that helps. Please let
me know if you talked to him. I'd like to know if that was BS.
Because I haven't been all that happy at work lately, I agreed to
meet with him even though it all seemed a little odd to me. Turned
out that Primerica is a pyramid type business where you are your
own "office". You train a few new people and get a percentage of
commission from them and move up the pyramid(they call it a
hierarchy). Not what I had in mind from what he said on the phone but
pretty much what I expected from my initial reaction to the call.

Pretty much everything's been covered in other posts, but make sure the new lift kit(?) will include new u-bolts and nuts. No mention yet of swaybar disconnects or plans for the track-bars...definitely pitch the rear, but if you want to keep the front one, you'll at least need relocator brackets. New bushings for the shackle/frame mounts. What axle/gear ratio/engine is in this thing if going to 35's? Be careful thinking a MML/BL eliminates the need for either a t-case drop or SYE...at 8" (?) lift, it won't.
I'd be happy to help with the lift if I'm avaialble. When are you guys planning on doing this? SUA YJ lifts are pretty easy to do, but air tools would be nice!

make to help this lift go easier... please offer up your suggestions. This

I've thought of one more thing that Matt may want to consider in addition to

Subject: [az_vjc] YJ Lift
Well, I've finally begun to assemble the needed parts to lift my
jeep (after 4 LONG years). I have a 95 YJ and I'm doing a spring
lift. I bought the springs which should give me about 8 inches or so
of lift. I just need to make sure that I have all of my ducks in a
row. So far, I understand that to do this - I will/should replace my
shackles. Should I go with revolving shackles or regular? I'll need
to lengthen my driveshaft, extended brake lines, longer shocks,
breather tubes on my axles, Re-clock the pinion (I'm not exactly
sure what this means though). I also understand that I may need to
lenghten my emergency brake cable. This is all being done from a
pretty stock YJ. All I have now is a shackle lift with 31" tires.
I'm planning on putting on 35". Am I missing anything? Any help from
you YJ owners is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Subject: Re: Telemarketing calls for CitiGroup?
I would like to appoligize to anyone that was offended by my call. I
am new to Arizona and I don't know alot of people as I said on the
phone. I have found most in the group to be very helpfull. I wanted
to give my fellow jeepers first chance at this oppertunity. As for it
being a telemarketing call, it wasn't that at all. I am not trying to
sell anything. Our company is growing and we are looking for honest,
hard working people to open and run new offices. I have been able to
meet with a few members of the group and have helped a couple a great
deal in their lives. Because of the law I cannot say who they are but
I hope they read this and come forward. As for this being a pyramid
they are illegal. Again I am sorry if I have offended anyone and I
will not be calling other members of the group.
Thanks,
Ray B

I was once a part of Primerica. Believe me, everytime you call someone you
always say their buddies said you are a good guy. It is a pyramid scheme. I
did it for about a month and it was bull****. I would tell anyone that calls
anyone else to go take a flying leap. Just my opinion though.

Subject: Re: Telemarketing calls for CitiGroup?

Actually, I was talking with Troy (Toys by) and he is going to be
involved with it. It is NOT going to be names 4WheelParts, but
Explorer Pro Comp or something of that sort.
If you want more info on it, call or e-mail Troy.

We talked about this last year, and no body took the lead. I am sure

Are you going to try to associate this with an organization??

Excuse the rambling email...it's early!

ps. And are you SURE it's 8" of lift?!?!?!

Hi Gang,
I'll be helping Matt with his lift... it will be the first leaf spring lift
I've done. If there are any suggestions you leaf spring guys and gals can
make to help this lift go easier... please offer up your suggestions. This
is one of those "Do it right the first time" kind of lifts... so we don't
want to cut corners with either parts, or with fabrication techniques...
I've thought of one more thing that Matt may want to consider in addition to
his list below:
1. Slip yoke eliminator (with this size of lift; I think it is a must).
Kind Regards,

Thanks,
Matt

He posted a thing to the group about a month back. I exchanged some emails
with him about doing some part time work so I could get my CFP time out of
the way. I took my lunch and talked to him at his office in phx. From the
emails we exchanged I also thought it was going to be more than a multi
level sales. When I talked with him I never mentioned any other names from
the group.

I was once a part of Primerica. Believe me, everytime you call someone you
always say their buddies said you are a good guy. It is a pyramid scheme. I
did it for about a month and it was bull****. I would tell anyone that calls
anyone else to go take a flying leap. Just my opinion though.
