Hello All,
Erik Vasquez is leading a Rice Peak trail run on Monday, November 11, 2002.
When: 8 a.m. - 8:15,
Where: meet @ the McDonalds on Catalina Highway and Tanque Verde.
Rating: 3.0
Length: all day
CB Channel: 4
Not sure if the back road is closed or not. Will know for sure before departure. My Buddy Tom Deeren new to AZVJC will be coming along in his TJ. The other option is to travel through the town Oracle. But no matter what looks like a good day to wheel. Will fill up at the Chevron right by the McDonalds before departure. Hopefully a few others can make it.

Subject: TJ Lift Question
I have recently purchased a 99 TJ Sport - 5 spd. Well I am ready for
a lift and overwhelmed with choices. This is what i am looking to
achieve. I would like to run 33's and am looking for roughly 4" of
lift. I want something that doesn't take away the ride as well. I
have been researching the different lifts and reading the articals,
but i would like to know what everybody thinks, based on hands on
experience.
Thanks Alot,

Instead of dropping the xfer case why not do a 1" body lift and a 1" motor
mount lift, to angle the output shaft towards the pumpkin ? Helps with the
breakover angle.

Yes 8 inches is pretty high, and will make you more prone to flopping
in off camber situations due to a higher COG. FWIW I run Stock
springs SOA with 1"body lift gor about 6.5" total lift and I run 37's
with no rubbing, just get out the sawzall;P
Joey Im sure you meant caster right:) DO NOT change the caster, weld
the front perches on parallell to the old ones, of course this is
assuming you are doing an SOA, here is some more SOA info on how I
did it.
Basically just get the RE spring perches weld them on top of the
axle, leave the fronts parrallel to the old ones but the rears you
will need to tilt up for pinion angle. With a CV shaft, you will want
to point it 1-2 degrees below the t-case output. I used F-250 Shock
towers up front and the little stud that comes with ranchos for the
bottom with Rancho 9012's in frt and in the rear I run 9112's with
the same bottom mounts as the front and M.O.R.E upper shock
extenders. Boomerang Shackles all the way around. I have a JB
conversions SYE with a Tom woods CV shaft and a HD front shaft from
Dicks Driveline. As for the steering, all I have is a dropped pitman
arm, no track bars, no sway bar and it is tolerable. I will probably
end up getting an M.I.T. dropped Draglink soon but not yet;) Oh
yeah, you will definitely need a traction bar eventually. I went for
a while without one but I am had Hunter Offroad make me one and its
amazing the differnce it makes.
Here are a few links to get the gears turnin.

Well, I've finally begun to assemble the needed parts to lift my
jeep (after 4 LONG years). I have a 95 YJ and I'm doing a spring
lift. I bought the springs which should give me about 8 inches or so
of lift. I just need to make sure that I have all of my ducks in a
row. So far, I understand that to do this - I will/should replace my
shackles. Should I go with revolving shackles or regular? I'll need
to lengthen my driveshaft, extended brake lines, longer shocks,
breather tubes on my axles, Re-clock the pinion (I'm not exactly
sure what this means though). I also understand that I may need to
lenghten my emergency brake cable. This is all being done from a
pretty stock YJ. All I have now is a shackle lift with 31" tires.
I'm planning on putting on 35". Am I missing anything? Any help from
you YJ owners is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

It's not that bad. I have family that lives there and never had a problem. it's the old "Eazy-E" music that made it sound as bad as people think. but your absolutly right about the 4 wheeling. where the heck are they going to wheel at? parking curbs? tires? Trash cans? LOL! but hey, maybe they'll move the corporate office to PHX. where rocks arent scarce. the only thing interesting out there is Hollywood park casino which is 7 miles north west of Alondra and long beach Blvd in compton.

Price: $18,500/obo
Contact: Reed: 623-210-3484 or rtnet@cox.net
This 2002 Wrangler X has been babied! Still looks like new, inside and out. It's only 10 months old and has 8K miles on it. I'm only selling it because my wife and I purchased a home and we need a truck.
The model "X" is essentially an affordable version of the "Sport". You still get the powerful 4.0L 6-cylinder, along with full cloth seating, carpeting, fold-and-tumble rear seat, sound bar, etc. This Jeep is very sporty and fun to drive, especially with the 5-speed manual tranny mated to the potent engine.
Here are the main features of this TJ:
yellow exterior, agate (charcoal) interior, factory hard top, Bestop safari top, A/C, power steering, AM/FM/CD, tinted windows, locking trunk, 3.73 axle ratio, alloy wheels, 31" BFG A/T tires, and side entry steps.
For a printable flyer, please go to this website:
http://members.cox.net/rtnet
Note that there would be no sales tax to AZ buyers on this purchase... a savings of about $1,500!
I'll consider a trade for a full-size X-cab truck, but I am very picky about my vehicles so it must be in excellent condition. Prefer low mileage and mfr's warranty, as well.
Feel free to call or email at any time. Thanks!

Subject: Telemarketing calls for CitiGroup?
Hi:
I don't follow the list that closely anymore, so if this had been
discussed in the past, please forgive me, but I got a call this
evening from a Southern man named Sam (623-872-6374) who identified
himself as a local VJC member. I was happy to chat for the first
minute or two as we exchanged pleasantries, but then he turns it into
a telemarketing call. That's right, a stranger who got my number
from the list and wanted to get me into a new business venture! Just
curious if anyone else has been contacted by Sam (or anyone
identifying themselves with local Jeepers) and how you have handled
it. I was pleasant, but became rather irate after I hung up and

Hello All,
Erik Vasquez is leading a Rice Peak trail run on Monday, November 11, 2002.
When: 8 a.m. - 8:15,
Where: meet @ the McDonalds on Catalina Highway and Tanque Verde.
Rating: 3.0

Not sure if the back road is closed or not. Will know for sure before departure. My Buddy Tom Deeren new to AZVJC will be coming along in his TJ. The other option is to travel through the town Oracle. But no matter what looks like a good day to wheel. Will fill up at the Chevron right by the McDonalds before departure. Hopefully a few others can make it.

Thanks!

this was one of the nicest runs I've been on. We took our time, we played hard, we explored the ruins of the old hotel, we stopped for scenic photo ops, We all survived the run, no carnage, no new additions to the "whoops" page. It was a blast and the weather was nice. Thank you for coming along for the ride. If you make the Broken Arrow/greasy spoon run then cool, I'll cya then.

Just
curious if anyone else has been contacted by Sam (or anyone
identifying themselves with local Jeepers) and how you have handled
it. I was pleasant, but became rather irate after I hung up and
thought about it. Anyone have this same thing happen to them? How
did you react?
