The 40" MTR is supposed to be in stores by Jan or early Feb. Also, the price MSRP is going to be about 280.00. These notes here where told to me by "Steve". He is the VP in charge of the whole MTR program.
I saw it at the SEMA show.... it is a good lookin tire.

Joe,
I agree with you that sometimes certain things need to be said. What I take
issue with is your attacking people and not issues. I think you could have
disagreed with the subject matter without resorting to name-calling. I
wouldn't have said anything at all, but the name calling was directed
directly at me and all those like me who don't agree with you. I am neither
a loser nor a racist nor a bigot. I don't consider myself to be
small-minded or have a small intellect. And I'm pretty sure I'm not a
single-celled organism. Your opinions about the original subject matter are
as incorrect as your perception of me and the others who disagree with you.
I'm fairly sure you wouldn't call me these things to my face, so why do it
in an email? I respect others' opinions, and enjoy a healthy debate. When
the debate degrades to insults and name-calling, I quickly lose all respect
for that person AND their opinion.
I realize that email messages can easily be misinterpreted, misconstrued, or
taken out of context. I've been guilty of that in the past, and if this is
the case here, I apologize. But I suspect I'm not the only one who took
some of your comments personally.
Sorry for rambling on... Maybe we can steer the subject matter back towards
Jeeps!
Regards,
Darren

To all,
Be very careful about these kind of messages. Rumors get started and sent through E-mails telling folks to delete what are actually necessary files. Then our good friends, doing what we would want, warning us of a danger, forward the information and the progression continues. There are site like Symantec (spelling??)
that list virus hoaxes etc. Trust but verify, wow could almost be presidential.

Well, I've finally begun to assemble the needed parts to lift my
jeep (after 4 LONG years). I have a 95 YJ and I'm doing a spring
lift. I bought the springs which should give me about 8 inches or so
of lift. I just need to make sure that I have all of my ducks in a
row. So far, I understand that to do this - I will/should replace my
shackles. Should I go with revolving shackles or regular? I'll need
to lengthen my driveshaft, extended brake lines, longer shocks,
breather tubes on my axles, Re-clock the pinion (I'm not exactly
sure what this means though). I also understand that I may need to
lenghten my emergency brake cable. This is all being done from a
pretty stock YJ. All I have now is a shackle lift with 31" tires.
I'm planning on putting on 35". Am I missing anything? Any help from
you YJ owners is greatly appreciated.

I've thought of one more thing that Matt may want to consider in addition to

1. Slip yoke eliminator (with this size of lift; I think it is a must).

Tell him to start spraying the bolts you will be removing , such as shackle
bolts, spring u-bolts etc, with penetrating oil. I know my Jeep is older,
but I had a hell of a time getting some of the bolts out. I had to grind
some of them in half. Is this a spring under, or spring over? Also might

Matt,
You should sketch out your ultimate rear drive shaft angle. Anything over
about 15 degrees at the transfer case and I'd suggest you study the
pros/cons of a CV (Double Cardon) u-joint to avoid vibration. If you don't
use one, shim the rear axle to make the pinion and transfer case angles
roughly equal.

Subject: RE: YJ Lift
Well my first question to you is are you sure you want to lift it that
high? What I mean is do you want to lift you center of gravity that far
up? With 35" tires you can probably get away with a 5 1/2" to 6 1/2"
lift just fine.
My next question is how do you plan on getting that high? I would think
maybe a SOA with 1 1/2" springs which could net you 7" above stock then
a 1" body lift? This, to me would be an ideal combo.
Clocking the axels to accommodate the lift is simply rotating them so
the pinion is at an ideal angle in relation to the transfer case
outputs. This is where a SYE will be very handy for getting rid of most
of the vibrations you will experience from the drive shaft.
This brings a thought about the Revolver question you ask. That high and
Revolvers (my opinion) are a bad thing. On hill climbs and off-camber
situations might get a bit scary. Replacing the shackles with some
stronger and greasable ones is a good idea but I would stay away from
anything above a 1/2" lift shackle.
Some other things you will want to consider is steering. First if you
have to rotate the front you will have to make sure the camber is within
tolerance (not a big issue). Your drag link will end up having a steep
angle. You will at least want to put a drop pitman arm on the steering
box. With a SOA your drag link might limit your right turn radius
because of the drag link hitting the leafs. You will want to consider
some kind of knuckle over steering or S link.
These are some of the things I am considering when doing my SOA.

Hi Gang,
I'll be helping Matt with his lift... it will be the first leaf spring
lift
I've done. If there are any suggestions you leaf spring guys and gals
can
make to help this lift go easier... please offer up your suggestions.
This
is one of those "Do it right the first time" kind of lifts... so we
don't
want to cut corners with either parts, or with fabrication techniques...
I've thought of one more thing that Matt may want to consider in
addition to
his list below:
1. Slip yoke eliminator (with this size of lift; I think it is a must).

8 inches of lift is pretty high. Correct me if I'm wrong members, but wouldn't that make it that much easier to flip your jeep on a hard-core trail with that stiff of springs and that high of lift? have you considered a spring over with a 1 inch body lift? Take a cruise to 4 wheelers and take a look at the SOA lift on the orange jeep they have out there to give you an idea of what you could do. with that size lift though, you should definitely go SYE with a CV driveshaft. who made the leaf springs for you?

Joe,
I agree with you that sometimes certain things need to be said. What I take
issue with is your attacking people and not issues.

To all,
Be very careful about these kind of messages.

Any help from
you YJ owners is greatly appreciated.

make to help this lift go easier... please offer up your suggestions. This
is one of those "Do it right the first time" kind of lifts... so we don't
want to cut corners with either parts, or with fabrication techniques...
I've thought of one more thing that Matt may want to consider in addition to
his list below:
1. Slip yoke eliminator (with this size of lift; I think it is a must).

Also might
want to look at the transmission mount.

Matt,
You should sketch out your ultimate rear drive shaft angle.

An adequate supply of PB Blaster sprayed on all the nuts and bolts that
will be removed, multiple times during the preceeding week, should help.

Subject: RE: [az_vjc] YJ Lift Questions
Hi Gang,
I'll be helping Matt with his lift... it will be the first leaf spring
lift
Kind Regards,
Joe West

Subject: [az_vjc] YJ Lift
Thanks,
Matt

8 inches of lift is pretty high. Correct me if I'm wrong members, but wouldn't that make it that much easier to flip your jeep on a hard-core trail with that stiff of springs and that high of lift? have you considered a spring over with a 1 inch body lift? Take a cruise to 4 wheelers and take a look at the SOA lift on the orange jeep they have out there to give you an idea of what you could do. with that size lift though, you should definitely go SYE with a CV driveshaft. who made the leaf springs for you?
