Hi Darren,

There are certain things in life that need to be said... regardless of
whether they alienate people.
Since it is unlikely that any further public discussion will lead to
anything productive, let's keep it offline.
For those who I offended... shoot me a letter and let me know; I'd be happy
to discuss it with you.

Oh... and for the record... while I may personally be embarrassed FOR
someone in the group who subscribes to the thoughts espoused in the letter
Bill posted, I am not embarrassed to BE ASSOCIATED with anyone in this group
(well.. except maybe for Chris Krieg when he torches his socks <grin>)...
there is a big difference between the two. I believe I try to go the extra
mile for people in this group... and while they may disagree with my
opinions, hopefully they understand that none of this matters when it comes
to Jeeping... It is very easy for me to like people I frequently disagree
with... Bill, Ross, Scott and others may not agree with my views but I would
help them out anyway I could if they ever got in a bind or if they needed
anything.

Perhaps I'll see you at the coves and we can talk about JEEPS!!!
<grin>

Kind Regards,

Joe

If it makes you feel better to be embarrassed for me, then so be it.
Your ability to use complex words in your diatribes does not make your
opinions any more or less rubbish than those of the next person. The
fact that you feel you must insult those with differing opinions
indicates to me that you really need to live a few more lives to "get
it", as you put it. I respect your opinions, but I don't feel I have to
insult you to get my point across.

To be clear, I am not personally offended by any of your posts. But
others might be. You have insinuated that those who do not prescribe to
your way of thinking are small-minded, idiotic, racist, single-celled
organisms with a small intellect who you are embarrassed to be
associated with. Since most people in this group (and in real life) do
have differing opinions, you are doing a good job at insulting and
alienating a lot of people.

regards,
darren

Lesson learned: Even if it's a quick 5 minute fix on your friend Joey

The nuts you are talking about for the seatbelts are welded into the body.......as to Rhino "type" lining, get the real thing, my experience is that you pay alot more for the Rhino but it 100x's thicker and more durable than the "type" stuff out there that you may want to roll, spray or brush on yourself.

I just did something like this on my 92 YJ, I bought the chrome tube for a Honda and the K&N cone filter at Auto Zone and spent about $70......took some time to mate the 3" tube to my 2 3/4" rubber elbow coming off the intake but a little heat, a little gease and it fits nice. The filter sits on the passenger side of the engine compartment now above the rocker cover now.....nice and high to keep it dry in creek fordings.......now I dont know if is going to get a lot of cold air, I think the only way to truly get that is a snorkel or a ram air type set up. Cost a lot less than the "similar" systems I have seen for Jeeps.

Best of luck,

While working under your rig, if a kid honks his bike blow horn
right in your garage, don't be alarmed, and definitely don't "jump"
up, metal IS harder than your forehead.

There are several chemical formulas on the market that will remove rust and inhibit or stop it from spreading. Unfortunately, I have not used any so I do not know the names, but you could probably find them on the net. Hopefully someone else can shed more light.

For the liner, one of the best I have seen is Line-X. I have it in a truck bed and it looks good and is very strong. I believe it is guaranteed for life and the company will repair it if it is ever damaged.

I need some opinion type stuff too. Recently bought a 76 CJ-5 and there was carpet all the way through. Plaid wimpy looking stuff. Anyhow, started tearing it out this evening. Found rust in corners of rear "bed" where the fender wells meet the bed. What is the best repair, within economical reason. Does have one area rusted through, approz 1/8" to 1/4" hole, other appears to be bad surface rust.
Also planning on coating the interior floors etc with that black "Rhino Liner" type stuff, any input?
Last, the seat bolts appear to be seized. Sprayed with WD-40 for the night. Are they bolted to just a standard nut or is the "nut" section part of the jeep body?
