As much as I would like to see everyone at the cleanup, I won't be able to.
Maybe I can catch you all at the January cleanup at Table Mesa instead. :)

If you find a moment, say a prayer for her.

Sorry to hear that Stu. Hope everything turns out fine. I know how that is,
my 4yr old had to have 2 hernia surgeries when she was 3 and it about broke
my heart to see her in the hospital. Be strong for her and I'll say a
prayer. 96XJ

My opinion is this - the new Rubicon drives me nuts, mostly because I'm a
little jealous. Now I very much admire anyone who builds a Jeep themselves -
modifies it to make it an awesome offroad vehicle and all. But seriously if
I was buying a new Wrangler right now and had the money, I would absolutely
buy the Rubicon. I've heard nothing but good things about it. It's certainly
the most trail worthly stock Jeep ever built, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I
love my YJ and wouldn't trade it in for a Rubicon. If I personally bought a
Rubicon today it would be in addition to my YJ.

Ok here is my opinion. Although the Rubicon is equipped very well you may
not be able to make changes. I have reviewed the cross section of the diffs
and it is not like a convention gear set so say you put bigger tires on it
and want to change gear ratios to compensate for the tire height change.
Guess what you are out of luck. The transfer case although being 4:1 already
is a chain drive and we all know chains tend to stretch and are not as
reliable as a gear drive transfer case. So if it was me I would by a TJ with
D44 rear end and with the money you save you can put the gear set in you
need for the tire size, install lockers and alloy axels with the 297x
U-joint and a 4:1 transfer case.

Yep. Did you check out the cross section of one of those babies? I did in
Petersons off road. They are not the standard D44 diff. and will not accept
the standard gear set.

So, is this just your opinion that it LOOKS like standard stuff won't
fit or do you have hard facts to back this up?

The guy has legitimate questions and does not need to be influence by
baseless information. This is not meant to be a flame, but merely meant
to make sure he has the correct info to make his decision.

I'd go for the Rubicon :-)

Wow, Mike, I do believe you have managed to make the most sense out of the
original post!
I commend you on your ability to sift though what people will read into
something.
Kinda makes Joe look uneducated.

I owe you a beer!
