Hey Everyone, that was a good time today at the Coves. Got to see some old friends and meet some new ones too! Here are some of the pics I got; the rest are on my Webshots link in my siggy line.

Here are some of us on a flexy line:

Terron:

The burned-out Cherokee we turned over looking for a VIN#:

Flat-fender with a boat lid:

The Taco DavidC searched and searched for a vin:

And then we found The Page in the Owner's Manual detailing where to look for the VIN. Weird, huh?

But it we still couldn't get to it.

By chance did the XJ have a 44 in it?

Did Jack get his new axle from Cole or still riding on the old one?

Yeah, George thinks DJ's new XJ does have a 44 in it.

Jack got his new axle and got to try it out today. I think he was happy but he left before us so I didn't hear all the feedback. I'm sure that being out on such a beautiful day in his Jeep was about all he could ask for though!

According to George, that was an older Cherokee with a non-C-Clip D-35. Dude, it was all burned; code for *probably warped*. You wouldn't want it plus we can't be stripping all those trashed vehicles anyways.

And besides, Trix are for kids!

P.S. George says if you're running a Dana 35 with 30 spline chromo's, you're stronger than a stock D-44 anyways.

Just got home, that was a cool run today. Thanks for setting it up Junky and good to see you again. Even better to see you wheeling your junk again. You too Terron, that lift looks like it's working out pretty well.

It didn't quite satisfy my wheeling bug for the weekend though so I decided to run up to Sunflower and do the loop. Did a little bit of exploring too. Not sure what road I was on but it hadn't seen a whole lot of use. If you're at the Mill and go right to head up to the mines the road splits again. It goes straight to the mine, right where I haven't explored yet, and I went left. It went up the hill and I thought it would have ended at another mine but it kept going. Might be one to explore some other day for sure.

great photos. And Terron, your new lifts looks awesome... you can rotate the tires right to left to reverse the tread for better traction in the rocks.

let me know if you want me to regroove that center line down the middle of the tread blocks or do any other grooving... might give them an even better bite.

I had a great time yesterday out at the coves. I was nice enough to let my wife wheel, since it is her jeep! John, thanks for putting this run together, it was nice to just hang out and meet a lot of new people. Here are some pics we got.

Here is Joe testing out the flex with his new 35's. He disappeared after the 1st hill to go make some more mods to his bumper.

I'm sorry, I still can't get over the title to this thread. I think time will tell that this thread will get the most views of any other thread in VJC history.

It was great to be out there - what little time I had. I headed for pavement as the group went for cove 2. I had to get to work. Great pics everyone - I forgot my cam.

We searched 3 torched vehicles for the C-VIN ('confidential' VIN as a MVD officer called it) which is supposedly stamped into the frame rail somewhere on every vehicle. No luck. We did identify each and I got GPS coords on each one and I've put that info into an e-mail for the FS law enforcement. I again offered our help in the recovery of these to the BJ parking lot. I'll post up when I hear back and get the ok to move them. FS LEO and MCSO typically will inspect them and prepare a report and then will give us clearance to haul them. It may take a day or a week or longer.

We now have permission from FS and MCSO to tow these vehicles to the Butcher Jones parking lot. I will start a new thread on this subject.
