You know the ribbing is DIRECTLY from Joe!! But seriously, after 1/2 hour
reading it, then going back to my desktop, it strained the eyes a little.
But hey, it's YOUR write up, and an excellent one, so if they don't like
it, tough sh$t!!!
I know you like purple, but try this:
Red:58
Green:109
Blue:165
It is a shade of blue that I use on my desktop.

Subject: Re: BFG Krawler update
Here's some information regarding those BFG's and the one's that will be available commercially vs the ones run in the Rockcrawling events. This comes from one of the tech Jeep boards, by someone who is very active in the rockcrawling scene and is on the support crew of one of the *major* ARCA teams:
"
One thing I would like to see in this whole tire war thing is an understanding by the BFG fans that it will be almost impossible for them to buy the (edit:same)tires they see the competitors run.
"
Followed by someone else's post who is in the field also:
"
I am sure that BFG is still working their new tires the same way they were in the mid 80's when I was involved in tire testing with the desert racers.
Being a locally based race team out of Vegas, they tested many new prototypes on the old Mint 400 "rock garden" area. I spent quite a few Monday evenings changing tires on Ivan Stewart's rig and several others. I learned a bit-the tires that the big dog racers run are NOT the same ones you and I can buy at the local BFG tire store. They may appear and look identical but they are different (edit: compund)!
A side note-Ultra wheels did the same thing. Remember the Outlaw II wheels? Racers got a different alloy than the ones you can buy at the store! I have watched Ivan deliberately hit a rock ledge head on at high speed-left front rim was "racer alloy" and bent but still held a bead; right front rim was "store quality" and completely shattered like broken glass.
"
There was a lot of discussion a while back regarding the MT/R's and it turns out that they do use the same tire in the retail stores, the best that anyone has been able to determine.
On a side note and some really exciting news:
"
I might get in trouble for this
But it's just too cool not to mention.
I just returned from playing touchy feelie with what I consider a near perfect rock crawling tire if you live out here(edit:in the west), compete, or just like MT/R's.
I would guess that GY got a little fed up with BFG stealing a little bit of their thunder and decided to get even.
The tire I saw was an MT/R, and the size is just about perfect for a lot of things. 40-13.50-17, coming in at just under the measured tire limit in most competitions.
Great aspect ratio, load range C for pliable sidewalls. Short enough to steer, tall enough to hop ledges. The 17" rim lets you run huge front brakes.
I don't feel too badly about mentioning them since they will be able to be seen on a rig at the upcoming SEMA show.
"

Subject: Update: Offroad accident - parts prices much different
Good morning,
Got a copy of the quote for repairs. It does include painting. It
appears to include painting at least the entire side of the Jeep!
It's from Pitre and the parts are priced the same as what I got from
Darner, but they added all the decals for that side of the Jeep.
There are no decals on the fender and that is what is being replaced.
There are 2 scratches on the door panel that are 1" long and so thin
that you have to use your fingernail to feel them that he says were
caused by my Jeep. That is on the list to paint, too. The labor
breakdown reads like this:
Body labor = 7.7 hrs
Paint labor = 8.7 hrs
Paint supplies = 8.7 hrs
For a total labor cost of $882.20
I don't know about the rest of you, but that sounds like a lot of
labor to paint 1 new fender and 1 new flare. Must be paying someone
to watch the paint dry between coats. I want to see his Jeep fixed
right and restored to the condition it was in before my Jeep hit it.
I'll pay a fair price for that, but I'm not paying to have a scratch
he got in his door from a grocery cart repaired and his entire Jeep
repainted for a dent that didn't even crack the paint in an easily
removable fender. I've "learned a lesson" in the past. The lesson is,
watch out for yourself and your friends or people will try to screw
you. This quote is a good example of someone trying!

Scott,
A super write up !! Great job !!
You and Stu did a great job of getting the wiring done and everything in
place. Of course, best of all, it seems to work !!! That's the true test LOL
!!!
Y'all put the time in up front and the time in during the install, and,
appear to have done everything correctly and in a professional manner. Hats
off to 'ya !!
One thing for sure, there is no doubt, now, which tranny I'm going to swap
in when I do the 4 speed auto -> the 700R4 LOL !!! ( Really ;) )
BTW, a guy down here in Tucson just finished his 700R4 swap.
Best,
Fred

How is "Paint Supplies = 8.7 hours" considered labor? Supplies
sounds just like hardgoods, not labor. This is a whacky estimate.
Unless they are considering all of the painting and related supplies
as one part of the estimate, and the fender and flare as another.

The fender, flare, stickers, paint, hazardous waste fees, etc, are
all figured seperate under parts. The only thing that I could think
of is that they charge for the guy to hold the sprayer for 8.7 hours
and they charge for use of the sprayer and compressor for 8.7 hours?
Somehow, it also takes 7.7 hours to remove and install a fender and a
flare. That's my best guess. Those numbers make a little more sense
if they are actually painting the entire vehicle since then they need
to prep and tape things.

Subject: Re: [az_vjc] BFG Krawler update

Scott,
A super write up !!
One thing for sure, there is no doubt, now, which tranny I'm going to swap
in when I do the 4 speed auto -> the 700R4 LOL !!! ( Really ;) )
BTW, a guy down here in Tucson just finished his 700R4 swap.
Best,
Fred

Good morning,
Got a copy of the quote for repairs. It does include painting. It
appears to include painting at least the entire side of the Jeep!
It's from Pitre and the parts are priced the same as what I got from

How is "Paint Supplies = 8.7 hours" considered labor? Supplies
sounds just like hardgoods, not labor. This is a whacky estimate.
Unless they are considering all of the painting and related supplies
as one part of the estimate, and the fender and flare as another.

I am getting the file together now. I oculd just go ahead and print
them and be done with it. I will use the sign-up list and then generate
blank ones for walk ups. I will change it from "AZVJC Member" To "2002
Coves Cleanup" so everyone can have one. Even the Sierra Club Members.
