Travis,

Keep in mind that this winch will not work when the engine is not running...
this can be a very bad thing... there are reasons that this winch is so
inexpensive grasshopper.

Not only that, but wasn't there something about the brakes not
working if the engine died, or something like this? I thought I
remembered where they started free spooling, this is why some
competitions that won't allow them. It could have been another brand.
I am almost positive it was hydraulic though.

Theresa read through it and we have fixed some minor spelling and grammar issues. I also forgot to include how to wire in the backup lights. I'll put that in soon. I'm quite pleased with the results of my very first effort of putting together a webpage. I hate to say it, but Microsoft actually released a great product for those of us that are HTML challenged. Second... VERY nice writeup Scott... VERY NICE!!!

Isn't it amazing how long it takes to document an extensive modification like yours? A good example is Chris Krieg's writeup on the D300 or my writeup on my instrument cluster modification... it almost takes as long to document it as it did to do the actual modification!

I swapped it out for a T-18 after minimal use and am now moving. The wife doesn't want it in the new place so I need to get it to a good home soon.

Date: Wed Nov 6, 2002 7:22pm
Subject:

Lachlan,

When you bought your 8.8, what gears did it have? Can you use a 3.73 carrier for 4.56 gears?
I am trying to balance the costs of replacing my 44 with an 8.8 or converting to disc brakes and buying a new carrier for the 44. The carrier that I have now has to be replaced in order to run 4.56s. I am thinking that it might be cheaper and easier to change the axle instead of converting my 44.
Can you give me a cost break down on the 8.8 install? Without the gears, as I have to do that either way.

Thanks

John

All right! So, I was not the only one that mentioned the purple! LOL

My teenage son once told me that my web site pages (with the light gray
background) were kind of dull. I explained to him that people came to
read the write-up and look at the pics. Black text on light gray is
easy on the eyes....it is not dull.

If they want art, they need to go to the art gallery! LOL

> I am trying to balance the costs of replacing my 44 with an 8.8 or
converting to disc brakes and buying a new carrier for the 44. The
carrier that I have now has to be replaced in order to run 4.56s. I
am thinking that it might be cheaper and easier to change the axle
instead of converting my 44.

gears, as I have to do that either way.
