Great meeting everyone today.
I can honestly say that with out a doubt, this was the best run to crown king I've ever been on. Great group of friends in well maintained and well prepared rigs made this trip a success. Thank you again Allen for leading us today and for the print outs. I hope everyone had as much fun as my father and I did today.
Here's the pics I got:
Very unexpected delight on the way to the trail head:

Does the front one have a trailer hitch on it?
Looks like fun I have wanted to do that run for a while now. maybe I will make it before all the snow is gone.

Yep, got a trailer hitch. A whole bunch of test mules there, but the challenger was the only one worth photographing.
Yes, I had some 148 shots. Here are the ones I liked best. I can email the originals if anybody wants me to. Just send me an email. http://community.webshots.com/album/562600852TDdgpM

Wow, you guys got into snow! That looks like it was fun. I see a few familiar jeeps there in that group, too!
I reminds me of a time when George and I were still dating, and we went exploring up there. We camped at the Oro Belle Mine in the back of his '79 Chevy PU. In the morning we drove a little ways down to the tin buildings to the right of the trail. George pulled out a fully auto M-30 Carbine and straffed the site, loaded another magazine, and said: "Now we can check out the buildings". I felt safe. =)

Awwww, that is romantic. :D
Had a great time today, long run but well worth all the sightseeing. We still did not get a look at everything!

Grunt, thanks for leading and doing extra work on getting the handouts for the historical aspects of the run. Great job! All had a great time. Next time we go up there I'll pick up your cheeseburger.
Eric, also thanks for leading a portion of the way. And thanks for selling me on to LA's (I think)...
Lookinf forward to more runs with all you new friends

ANthony, did you get the mud off your jeep yet? :D
Billy, we had a blast. You NEED to make the next one. We didn't get to see half of the stuff we wanted. THe Oro Belle(Bella) site is far bigger than you could imagine, is goes over/around both hills and adjoins another unlisted mine. None of the books had this little mine in there, but we saw it once we got to the saloon in the old photos.
Running and hitting the snow layer was neat too. I got to have a snowball fight with my son at ever stop.

It was great meeting everyone for the run yesterday - my best Crown King run by far - definitely want to go back to explore more ( anybody up for a sequel at some point?) - Great to be with such a great group of folks - special thanks to Alan for organizing and leading the run and Eric for the input on the "mine loop road" up near CK. I was sorry Duality and Billy had to miss the run, but thats just another reason to do a sequel ! - Mark

I do like the Crown King run so I will keep an eye out for a repeat trip. The extra loop with the mines was Awesome. I would like to see where road 192 goes when we took the hook to the right. Maybe a future trip.
Allen,
Thanks for coming clear across town from Queen Creek to lead this run.

How was the weather up there? Comfortable enough to take the top off?
I had the heater going and my window rolled down. If you have a bikini top and a windjammer, I would say you could get by with it. Going to take my top off this weekend. Just got a dust cover for the bed of the jeep from Joe at Absolute offroad.
Joe explained that the safari top is better than the bikini top because it keeps the sun off the back of your neck. Just an FYI for those thinking of a bikini top.

I'm going up tomorrow and just pulled my top and doors. Put my Bikini on because I don't want to wrestle with my safari top tomorrow. I will through the soft doors and the windjammer in the back in case I need it, but imagine a windbreaker and bennie will take care of me.

If it is warm like today you probably won't need them Andrew. Wise to take them anyway. We had a very mild precipitation, slow/light snow flakes about tunnel mine area. I think it will be clear tomorrow.
Note - If it is melting, expect running water and mud. We crossed water but it was about 6" to 18". Lots of mud at the end....

Great pics Kevin! And those yellow Jeeps made it easy to keep track of the group for they really didn't seem to let the mud stick like the rest!!!

Beautiful shots Kevin. Your friend says you won a photo contest. I see why you won it now.
