Sunday March 2nd, meet at the EAST side of Table Mesa (that means you turn right gang) 9:00am leaving by 9:20am

Table Mesa to Seven Springs, exiting through Cave Creek / Carefree (hopefully we will be able to stop for a late lunch in Cave Creek)

You must have a State Land Trust permit

Fairly easy trail 2.5 to a 3.0 depending on what lines you take...

Minimum requirements: 31 inch tires and recovery points (open diffs will be fine), bring food and water incase this trip drags out a bit.

Limiting the group to 10 vehicles for the sake of time, this run has room for one more...

More scenic than difficult, follows New River river bottom for the most part, some hill climbs, eroded roads and there is an old quarry area with steep hill climbs for the adventerous. Great trip for a newb looking to get on a trail where you actually need 4 lo but not a "real" rock crawling run, although there will be rocks involved... :D

This doesn't sound like a round trip run... How long would it take max one way? If not to long I could run it backwards after words back to the tow rig/trailer.

Figure a couple of hours in each direction, maybe a little longer...

We used to do the "there and back" when I rode dirt bikes as a kid with my dad and a group of friends... It's enjoyable in both directions, if not a bit more of a challenge coming back due to a couple of hill climbs / switch backs...

When did the trail reopen? It's been closed forever...

Isn't that FR42 aka the Telegraph trail???

Just emailed Tonto National Forest office as they closed today (President's day)...

If this trail is closed, I have another in mind, but it will require 33's... Still in TM area, but a round trip type...

Put me down. Yeah, a run close to home!
That route is more scenic than rough. I think it got graded a few years ago, when they were getting fire fighting equipment back in there. Lots of Rhinos/ Rangers running it when we went last year.

Unfortunately it does get graded every time there is a fire, I am sure the recent rains have roughed it up a bit.... If not it will still be a better day easy wheeling than if I was at work...

Ok got some bad news talked to a couple of Rangers up here in Cave Creek today (sat) and they said they just closed the gate on Table Mesa off I-17 they said you can still run it from Seven Springs but there is a large dropoff at one of the washes...but no access from I-17.

I really don't have much interest in running the trail from Cave Creek to a dead end and back... It's a fun trail, but not that fun and that route would require a total of about 40 miles of washboard road...

Everyone that signed up for this run, PM me your vehicle specs and trail rating preference if your still interested in running March 2nd...

I'll come up with Plan B... (Had something in mind already just incase)...

I can't say for sure I'll be able to run this, Rilee is not doing well today, she was fine yesterday. So it's a day by day ...ups and downs..., can't confirm any plans till I can get this under control..if it's possible.
Keep me updated on trail condition anyway, might just show and hang with you guys for an hour for pics then split. ok?

When I last posted this run was full. I asked for a stand by spot if someone should drop out. My junk should be out of the shop this week so it'll be great to hit a trail and try out the new goodies. Let me know what you come up with on attendance and a new trip plan if needed. Hope the family is feeling better Billy.

Okay family is doing better and my oldest son and I just got back from driving most of FR41... From what I can tell the trail is open, I talked to several people who came in from the Seven Springs end and I went in through I17...

This is the kind of trail that I would like to do with this group, it's not a major rock crawling trail and should be a good experience for everyone that signed up originally... This is not along the lines of Raw Deal or Lower Terminator, it's a get out and enjoy yourself kind of trip...

I can't imagine anyone will need any real spotting, but if you do it's not a problem...

It is 3 hours of bumping and grinding along in low range, 3rd and 4th gear (for my setup)... There are a few obstacles that I am sure will raise a few eye brow's, but I didn't engage my lockers once (I wanted to prove to myself a open/open Jeep would be okay) and I tried the hardlest lines I could come up with. I also didn't air down (should have for the sake of the ride quality) or disconnect the front sway bar....

Here are a few pics, everyone chime in via PM... I will do the other run I spoke of in the next few weeks for those who are interested and capable...

OK Gang we are still in but we are going to open a slot as we will only be bringing my rig. So Stomper will be riding shotgun with me without his rig. And we will have a dog, not sure which one. Hope there is still water on the trail! :D

please list me as another alternate should someone drop out, lose interest, or otherwise not be able to make it. I would definitely attend if given a spot.
Otherwise I'll wait to hear your suggestions for another trip. Thanks

Hey Billy,

I am going to back out of this run and let someone else who this would benefit more take my spot....Whoever is next in line...

My co-worker and I are going to do LT and RD that day instead.

He just finished his rig and wants to try it out.....

Let me know when you want to do the alternate run you were thinking about.

Bear,

Understandable, I know your wanting to play on the harder stuff with your rig anyways and this trail does not offer those kinds of obstacles...

You might want to make sure your winch battery is up and charged.... :D

PM me if you need help with directions to LT...

Second: I always trust your words of wisdom however.....The winch battery will be fine since you will not be on the same trail as me so there will be no need for it. :sifone::driving:

Okay everyone, this will be my last chance to communicate until maybe late tonight (like midnight)...

Heading to Manzanita Speedway for the WoO race as I have a few customers racing and I am a fill in crew chief for one of them...

Nothing has changed, meet on the EAST side right where the pavement ends...

See ya in the A.M.

Had a great time, sorry I took zero pics.... To busy trying to pretend I knew where I was going... :D

As far as the group went, I couldn't ask for a better group to run this trail with. Sure it wasn't much of a challenge vehicle wise, but everyone kept each other in view and the whole trail etiquette thing went smooth as silk. I don't think I heard one complaint all day.... Rox did a great job as a tailgunner, oh and yes I will keep in mind to stop at the "real rest rooms" if the occassion were to arise again. :)

I in turn hope everyone had an enjoyable day bouncing through the desert and dirtying up their Jeeps...

joedokes28, great to finally meet you, just sorry it was on pavement instead of dirt...

I know a few in the group had their camera's going so I am sure someone will post up a few pics when they have time....
