Be careful. The manual is incorrect when it specifies GL5 lube. In fact you want to run GL3 per the factory service manual. I made this mistake for about a year before I became aware of the issue. I too have an AX15 and mine lasted only 28k. It croaked about 10k miles after running the GL5 lube. Joe W also has this problem. He's swapping in an NV4500, I swapped in a 4 speed auto.

Either the dealer fluid or Redline fluid is ok. I think the Redline fluid is called MT-90.

I need to change the Transmission fluid in my Aisin AX-15 tranny. The owners manual says to only use the Mopar fluid. This stuff is $15 a quart and I need 4 1/2 quarts. Anyone see a problem with using an off-the-shelf brand like valvoline, etc. instead. I just can't see spending $75 on tranny fluid when the stuff at Checkers will work fine. Thanks for your help.

From Tucson.

I know that it is for all of AZ, and that most members are in Phoenix. It does not bother me any, I speak time to time. Met a few members there in Phoenix, here too. Most drive the tub style and I have the wagon style. And most in the threads have the tub. I feel left out on info some times, but I am creative and can look at what you talk about and put ideas towards my rig. Had one today, will look into it.

Have not done any trails out side of Tucson, but soon to change.

You people in Tucson & other parts of the state,

AzVJC, the way I understand it, was meant for all of Arizona. I hope you
people in Tucson & other parts of AZ are not put off by some of us in the
Phoenix area doing stuff and doing the majority of the posting on the board.
I would really like to see what other parts of the state have to offer and
just because I may not attend 9 out of 10 times doesn't mean I am
disregarding your trips. Please post more trips and have more input.

Enjoy the out of doors and let the rest of share in your enjoyment, just as
we will do.

Hello all,

Has anyone added this modification to a 2001 TJ with a 4.0L (link below)? They say it gives a deep throaty sound. I would like to hear someone's TJ to determine just how throaty and deep the sound is. I live at 60th Street & Thomas and work up by the Scottsdale Airport. So if someone on the east side has a TJ that I could come and listen to (at their convenience) I would appreciate it.

Mike,

While I have not had any break personally, I offer the following...they
can break when your shocks are the incorrect length..either from being
over extended (axle pulling down on the shock which is then acting as a
limiting strap) or from being over compressed (axle pushing up into the
shock which is then acting as a bump stop). Either situation results in
forces than neither the shock or the shock mounts are designed for.

I would venture a guess that one of the two are happening with your
setup.

Chris is right (I was wondering when someone was going to say something)
:-)

In fact..if the shock is a bit too long, putting in a BPE will simply
aggravate the problem, since the BPE eats up between .5" and 1" of shock
travel length. :-(

anyone want to hit the Florence Jun. area?

Scott,

I guess what made me think about it is, I used to go hunting around
Patagonia Lake(sp?) (it's deer season again) and the posts "us people" in
the Phoenix area. There is some gorgeous trails in the Southeast. I was also
thinking I need to go up on the rim and visit Bill's country.

Just random thoughts.

I dunno about the sound, it works fine for me. Maybe try updating your
Shockwave install?

I just got 22,909 on it though!

You're using Nutscrape Mastrubator, that's the problem.

Nutscrape is owned by AOL, which is trying to get a monopoly on information.
AOL owns Time Warner, CNN, etc. If they control all the news they can
control how people think...which is bad. Microsoft may suck, but at least
they've already gotten busted for monopolizing the market.

They're a lot of good trails around Tucson, and further south. I'm planning
on running Lower Mansfield, not this weekend (wenching instead), but
probably the following. I'll post it up for anyone that wants to go. It will
be a heck of a long drive for anyone from the Phoenix area. I'm betting no
one from the Tucson area has been on this one. It's south of Tucson, in the
Patagonia Mountains. It's rated a solid 3.5+ ~ 4.0 +, maybe a little more,
depending on bypasses. Most of the harder areas have bypasses.
For the Tucson people who may be familiar with the Chivo Falls area, it's a
lot like Italian Trap. It's actually my Italian Trap replacement for when
they close the Trap.
This is a nice run, up in the mountains, in oak and some pine.

Best,
Fred

Bill and Stu did some trails about a month or so ago. Stu said there was
some nice areas up there. I don't think Bill gets to wheel with too many
other members. I'm hoping to go up that way eventually.
