Someone, maybe on this forum or another one posted a website that appears to be selling TbT parts. I went there and checked it out and it appeared that somebody might have bought all the existing stock as it does not appear to be Troy himself.

Now I have a client that wants the front bumper Troy sold and I need to track it down...anyone here know of that website????

Thanks.

Stu Olsen posted something from Troy stating that Troy was going to continue making his stuff but from his house and that he would only be selling wholesale. Have you looked at 4x4groupbuy. I know they were selling TBT stuff? Sorry I couldn't find the original post from Stu.

Who cares. Troy, while he might make a decent product, has lousy customer support and a terrible trail etiquette.

I've seen several people say that on the forum, but I don't think I've ever heard why. Do you have an example or a link to a post about it?

I have known Troy for a long time. I dealt with him a lot when i lived in Texas.

He was always a great guy, took my calls and warrantied products without a whimper.

Something in there went astray, personal life, business life or both, I have no idea. He went from almost always giving me or selling stuff for me and my use sometimes at prices so low I was embarrassed to take them to the complete opposite. On 2 separate occasions he did not warranty a product and started charging outlandish prices for items and asking for cash. I just thought it was me! But apparently not.

Somehow he ran into some adversity and it overcame him and his business. I wish him well and harbor no ill will.

In spite of Joe being one of the best wrenches around and having had work done there and bought parts there I will no longer and have not in several years conduct any further business with the company.

Although I probably don't have the depth of history with Troy as Don, I have had similar experiences. I still like a lot of his products, but I would probably not go back even if he was still in business.

I to have had positive experiences with Troy and his wife but others have not.
I do have an issue with him changing the trail so to speak.

Just based on his trail pracicces that I have NOT personally witnessed, I will not run the product, besides, there are companies here that support my Jamborees like Desert Fab and 4 Wheel Supply and I feel they are the ones that deserve my patronage and that of my club members.

Hyjak has several upgrades purchased from Toys by Troy, and most of them were bought early in my Jeep history. (2005) Never had to take anything back because his stuff is made right and plenty tough. But my last experience with his company left a bad taste in my mouth.
I was looking for a cross over steering upgrade and after seeing the one on Michale Varne's rig (TxT) I decide it was the one for me. Contacted them and scheduled an appointment to go over the install and when I got there, they were packing up and moving out of their place. One of the guys there said they were still going to be in business and I should call and re schedule. Couldn't get them on the phone but eventually Sherri, (Troys wife) e-mailed me and told me they would contact me next month and get me in for the upgrade. Never happened. Tried to contact them and their e-mail bounced and phone never answered. Kind of left me hanging until I found out about Cross-eyed fab. Gordon used to work for Troy, so he had some good info. on what happened and also did a great job on my steering upgrade. :)
I wasn't there on the trail when whatever happened that got everybody's panties in a bunch, but I have talked to several people that I trust that were. We all have done things we regret in life, and some of us have learned from them. Maybe loosing his business will make Troy a better person. If I ever see him on the trail, he will get a smile and a handshake, unless he is doing something stupid.....

It's no secret around here that my original suspension upgrade was the "Alumiflex", I broke somethings on it and they were replaced, I never felt that these things should've broken, but all I got out of him was that it was my fault. Troy is a great salesman and no matter where the designs came from I still like his armor and bumpers. I actually am running the rear bumper right now. I no longer run that suspension because it was not counted on to be as "hardcore" as it was advertised. Honestly I felt that company tried to grow too big too soon and as others in numerous industries can attest that can be a good thing at times and a bad thing at times.

Speaking of small businesses by the way. Don I notice that you are now a small business sponsor. Yet we haven't seen any posts introducing you as such. Can you let us in on what business you are now running. Some people on the board might want to utilize your services.

Jack,
Is that your "pretzeled" suspension that was hanging on a wall at a 4x4 shop? I saw one at one time but its been a while back and it was an alumiflex setup that had gone bad.

I sent Joe a tag line but I doubt he has had time to get it added...Joe is just a bit busy at the moment. So if i don't see something in the next couple of weeks or when he gets back (I assume him and his new bride are sharing some time together away from here) I will prod him some more.

As for what I am doing...well I am mostly just keeping myself busy working on Jeeps, and some trucks so I figured I would just call it a business. In fact that was my intent when I moved here (note: the domain name: SavageSun4x4.com)

Due to some health problems the shop never got formally opened. I had the location was down to the paper signing. Albeit I have not fully recovered and never will that does not preclude working on a smaller scale than the original concept. :)
