Anybody know the capcities for the rubicon t-case and manual trand nvg 3550? Also the type fluid in trans. I believe it is 30 weight motor oil. Going to change these over to synthetic but the crappy manual gives no capacities for these. I only want to make one run to the napa.

Thanks

I gues I need a real manual..

I don't know about the 241 T-case, but the NV3550 takes about 2 quarts of fluid and uses a 17mm hex head for the drain plug.
The part number and the reason for using the mopar fluid is in this link.

DO NOT put 30 wt motor oil in you TC or Tranny. It requires a synthetic.

As SavageSun said, the transmission calls for a synthetic lube that meets Chrysler's MS-9224 spec... most aftermarket fluids will specifically state on the bottle that they meet or exceed this spec. I'd recommend checking for that.

The transfer case should be ATF+4, which is also synthetic. Anything equivalent to this can be used, like Royal Purple Syncromax for example.

Two quarts of each should cover you. In both cases, just fill it until it starts to come out the fill hole.

Thanks for the replies. Ok so the trans takes some "special" lube, most manuals I've dealt with are happy withy synthetic 30 wt. But if thats the case I'll just leave it since it says "lifetime" in the manual. I'll check into that again and since the atf+4 is a synthetic I'll wait for the 60K mark. Thanss, I'll spend money elsewhere.
