a lot of vehicle forums ive been part of over the years have had sticky posts with user submitted do it yourself mods. These are generally free, or near free simple things that you can do to your jeep. Typically things the veterans dont think about as being abnormal, but a n00b wouldn't think of. What do you all think of getting something like this started.

The first thing I figured out was to pull the #4 fuse, which disabled the dome light when doors open. Now they can be taken off without killing a battery.

I read the do it yourself forum, but this would be different in that it would be a well organized, and always available database. would be nice IMO

There is a whole forum devoted to this topic:

You can do it yourself (http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31)

right, but what I am referring to is a sort of list. A well organized thread with each post being a different DIY "mod."

I understand that forum, and read it often, but having a well organized, and always available database would be nice IMO.

i see what you're saying. Right now the DIY forum, some mods that may be easy and effective could be dug in there, 5 pages back. However, setting up a database like that would require something else besides a forum. Because even with "sticky"ing the posts which you deem "easy and effective", after 30 of them, we would start page 2.. etc.

One way of doing it though if you wanted to make it yourself would be to put a post up in the DIY forums, titled something like "Directory of easy and effective DIY Mods" then you can just list out the mods and link to a topic where someone posted about it. Then get a mod to sticky that. Thats about as close is you're going to get on a forum I think though :]

I have a lot of those on my website, low buck easy mods.

Getting them into a database would not be easy and in spite of my experience developing-architecting databases, I will pass on this.

I would recommend your peruse Stu Olsen's website: http://www.stu-offroad.com/index.asp

and my website, better known as the "Poor man's Stu Olsen" website :): http://www.savagesun4x4.com/

Can we sort them by model?

TJ, YJ, XJ, CJ, etc... Would be a lot easier to look for ideas. Many of Stu's TJ ideas don't pertain to my YJ. :(

i can make a simple database place like this if you guys want. I'll just allow users to add a mod, then add a link to where the mod's info is (A thread under DIY) if y'all want

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Lets coordinate on this and see if we can link it to this site at all. I'm sure the user submitted idea would be extremely useful to new/unseasoned ppl.
