Don't get mad Bro, I was commenting on what was said about "shooters/gun clubs picking up their brass." Don't jump on my ***** until you read the whole thread. this is what I was responding to "I think you should concentrate on asking gun/rifle clubs for this clean up, not OHV clubs.
Joey K
93YJ"
Which is a good idea, but, what gun club do you know is going to go out of there way to do that? Not mine, I know that (but I don't hate my gun club for this).
Now, my statements were not directed to just field shooters, it was directed to everyone who uses the trails who are not up to date with all the political issues (as far as land use) as we are.
Oh, and by the way the majority of people who drive off road, who are not up to date with land issues, don't care! If they did, there wouldn't be any trash or brass on these lands, CAN I GET AN AMEN! but if you take offense to what I wrote, then all I could say is "don't." Were all in the same gang here "my brotha," educate me with your ideas and concerns, but don't try to me for my statements. just remember the last things I wrote: all in all, cleaning up these areas would be great. Maybe when these irresponsible trash hogs and brass bombers see that these areas are clean, it'll help promote to maintain the grounds that they stand on....
Anyway, gotta start the BBQ, thats the issue I've gotta deal with right now.
But if anyone finds any 45shells, 44mag, 270, 30-6 or 30-30 shells, please let me know, it's time to reload.

Eric,
Eric,
Hold on a second.....please slow down.
#1. I've no idea how long you have been involved with the AZVJC. From
your comments, it does not sound like you have been on the cleanups we
have helped on at Table Mesa. If so, your comments don't seem to stack
up to what you would have experienced out there while on a cleanup.
#2. We have helped clean up the Table Mesa primary shooting areas
several times (at least I have) and frankly, it is very much like
pissing into the wind. A month after you did it, it looks the same
again.
#3. I am very glad to hear you pick up your brass....thank you (I too
shoot and reload, etc.)
#4. A LOT of people that shoot at Table Mesa DO NOT pick up their
brass, targets, back stops, etc. If you doubt this, please drive out
there on a nice weekend, park your butt up on a nice overlook (being
careful not to get shot) and watch them with a good pair of binoculars.
I accompanied a large group (about 50) of state and federal land
management agency people out there just this past weekend. I feel
confident they can back up my claim that the place looked like a ****
hole.
#5. It is too bad you were offended by the previous comment....however,
you can check last year's participant list....the list that you sign in
on when they give you the trash bags so you can clean up (Table Mesa).
You will find that vast majority of those signing up are off-roaders of
some type (and they are not the wants making that mess). Please do not
stand on a soap box and preach about how the shooters at Table Mesa take
care of their own mess! THEY DO NOT!
#6. Last year's cleanup saw people posting notices of the cleanup at
shooting stores, etc. I was told that gun clubs were invited, etc. See
#5 above as to how many shooters participated. (ie., people who ONLY
shoot and do NOT also off-road)
#7. Please do NOT tell me that it is just illegal dumpers that leave
everything out there and it is the innocent shooters that come along and
pump it full of bullet holes. Bull****! Let me tell you of a
conversation that was related to me just last night.....some friends
were over and off-roading, shooting, camping, etc. came up during
conversation. The person said "You should have seen what my cousin did
a while ago. They had a bunch of computer equipment that they didn't
want. They took all of it and a portable generator out to the desert.
They got all of the equipment up and running and then proceeded to shoot
it all up." Sorry....that was not simply a case of illegal
dumping....that was people wanting to see arcs and sparks when they shot
video terminals, etc.
I love to shoot....I own more guns than I have time to use. However,
just like irresponsible OHV users......stupid shooters give the
responsible ones a black eye too. It is time to stop defending them
(and being offended when someone points them out) and time to start
getting them shut down (ie., arrested, fined, ticketed, guns
confiscated, etc.)

That's like saying that the trails aren't going to be cleaned up
because the majority of the people who drive offroad dont' really
know or care about our lands....... etc. etc.
Your statements are just the kind of statements we as an offroad
community loathe. I like to go to places other than a range to shoot.
I pick up my brass and others brass and I pack out what I brough in
so I am pretty offended by your one-sided statements.
First off most of the trash out there is DUMPED by scumbags who have
no concern for teh enviroment or lae not brought by the shooters
albiet it is the irresposible shooters are the ones putting holes in
every TV, Refrigerator, etc that they find out there but how many
times have we driven by this stuff and left it there as well.
There are MANY groups that use the desert, shooters, OHV'ers, hikers,
campers, geocachersm etc. I think before we make commenst like the
ones I am seeing we contact the organized groups of shooters,
OHV'ers, Geocachers etc that care JUST AS MUCH AS WE DO about taking
care of the areas we all SHARE and work WITH them to clean these
areas up instead of cleaning them up ourselves so we can garner
the "we did it and you didn't" glory which only alienates the
different groups all together which is what the Ant-recreationists
want....... if we join forces we are more powerful than if we work as
seperate entities.

Let me say it another way. Maybe in a way you will all understand. ;/
Why don't we post signs at the gun shops where shooters pick up their ammo and supplies. Signs informing them if it's not clean they can loose it. And maybe some gun/rifle clubs might help out. To be quite frank about it I wouldn't mind it if you posted the information at hobby shops either. Maybe we can get a knitting club or a model train club out there too! The more the better!
The last cleanup I attended at the Table Mesa area was very impressive. It was an impressive showing of OHV people. I am pretty sure there was not a single target shooter out there, unless it was because they were a OHV enthusiast as well. What +90% of the trash was, was from shooters. Sure it might have been people that find that area closer and cheaper than a landfill that originally left the trash. But it is my belief that - if you shoot it you own it whether it be the shells or the targets.

Hi All:
Yesterday a few of us ran Raw Deal until we got caught in a down pour and exited at the split where Upper starts.
Please remember "Pack In, Pack Out." I have not run this trail since the Spring time and I was disgusted at the amount of trash on the trail, especially near the "air down spot/parking lot." I'm a target shooter myself, but my friends and I always pick up our shells and even make the place look cleaner than when we arrived to the spot.
I know we have a Cove's Clean-Up coming up in a few weekends, I think we should pick a date and organize a clean-up of the Table Mesa Area. I know a few club members cleaned up the Terminator's recently, but we need to keep up on keeping the areas clean. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I have not been able to attend any of the last land use meetings, but I'm going to try my best to attend in the future.
What would be a good date for a Table Mesa Road Clean-up Run? Please any input would be grateful. We can always set-up a poll and go from there.
Jake

went up BOX, through JACK HANDLE and then through MARTINEZ.
david led us up through JACK and showed how well a near stock TJ can perform.
ben took his bone-stock, open diffed 97 TJ all the way to the cabins. we did have to winch him up a portion of JACK. he jumped in with scott for martinez. we hooked up with the XJ group and brought up the rear.
derek is no longer a florence area VIRGIN. traci and william stuck it out........well except for the luge by-pass? can't blame 'em for that. my shorts were wet the first time i did it.
scott is fine tuning his kluneV etiquette. he has now mastered the art of taking pics while not driving. the crawl ratio is awesome.
was nice to see no TOYOTAS today.

Subject: Manual Tranny Fluid
Hi All:
I've been changing out the usual fluids, etc and someone had mentioned in the past I should put Redline in my tranny. I know the book says the tranny fluid is lifetime, but it's BS we all know it. Just like plugs are suppossed to be lifetime, yet I change them every 25K and get my performance back.
What 4x4 dealers in town carry Redline Tranny fluid? How much do I need to fill my tranny that is in my 2.5L '00 TJ.
Thanks!

Jake,
Dann Weideman @ Bell Rd. Mitshubishi is the dealer rep for the valley. You can give him a call (602.866.6168) and he can tell you who stocks what you need close to you. He has also dropped what I needed off when his driver was making runs to various stores if they don't stock exactly what you need.
This should save you from driving/calling around.

Don't get mad Bro, I was commenting on what was said about "shooters/gun clubs picking up their brass." Don't jump on my ***** until you read the whole thread. this is what I was responding to "I think you should concentrate on asking gun/rifle clubs for this clean up, not OHV clubs.
Joey K

We can always set-up a poll and go from there.

derek is no longer a florence area VIRGIN. traci and william stuck it out........well except for the luge by-pass? can't blame 'em for that. my shorts were wet the first time i did it.

Thanks!
Jake

So my friend got the okay from his wife to put on his suspension
for his TJ. So we have been wrenchin on it since 10:30 w/hour or so
rain delay. Before the rain hit we had finished the front. So far so
good.So now we are starting on the rear. I jack up the rear put the
stands under and to my suprise I find plastic sway bar
exstentions.WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?.Those bar pins for the shocks that
has got to be the biggest mistake that DC has made. I have to laugh
at the plastic parts on a suspension component.Trying to save some
money I see.The install is not really that bad.If this was an install
on a YJ we would already be on the trails testing.

Jake,
Dann Weideman @ Bell Rd. Mitshubishi is the dealer rep for the valley. You can give him a call (602.866.6168) and he can tell you who stocks what you need close to you. He has also dropped what I needed off when his driver was making runs to various stores if they don't stock exactly what you need.
This should save you from driving/calling around.

This may sound simple to you veterans, but I have only steam cleaned OLDER engines... on a fuel injected, inline 6, 4.0L Wrangler, other than battery, alternator &; air intake, what other items should be covered before steam cleaning engine? Thank you for all responses. Any tips, hints, etc?

A good mechanic does not make excuses because of the vehicle. :o LOL
Sounds like someone wasn't too familiar with a simple coil spring
install?
Don't start the YJ - TJ thing. It just isn't worth it.

(the coves) let's just ignore the problem or pass blame on other
