I'm still looking for a transfer case for my Rubicon, is there any difference in the cases between the 241 in the Rubicon and a standard 241? I was wondering if I could get a normal one and use the back part of the case? or if there was anyplace I could order just the case? I'm having a heck of a time finding one and I'm running out of time to get it fixed before I leave in a couple weeks

Wellllllllllll, kinda sorta. The Rubicon (NVG 241OR RockTrac Transfer Case) is the same yet different.

The 241 has been around a long time in fact as far back as '87 and has seen lots of use behind V8's and other heavy duty applications in Jeep, Dodge and Chev that I know of. They are found in 23, 27, 29, and 32 spline configurations.

That said the NVG 241OR RockTrac Transfer Case is unique in its own right. The 4:1 low, wider drive chain and a few other tweaks for the OR (off road) moniker.

All the 241 use a 6 bolt odd pattern, but they do not all interchange and therein lies the rub. This is not unique to the 241 as you will find the same regular-irregularities across the board with the 231. It is just the nature of the beast in fitment for Chev, Dodge and Jeep lines.

Will the guts interchange across cases...as far as I know yes. But I suspect it would be better and cheaper just the buy the whole assembly.

Having said that, if you have a direct interchangable 241 case then upgrading it to "OR" might not be a bad way to go....

Let me know how this works out for you :)

I got a hold of the guy with the Rubicon parts on Craigslist in San Diego, he said he won't ship it, but he might bring it here for me, I'm just waiting for him to get back to me on it, but I'm hoping it works out soon,

Thanks for finding that ad for me Rich

he's bringing me the transfer case on Tuesday, so if anybody wants a pair rubicon axles he could probably be here with those too

That's cool, it blows that the dealer wouldn't warranty it, did you try more than 1 dealer ?

Hope things work out for you and have fun in Korea, I'm one of the few who had a blast in Korea, it is what you make of it :)

Since you guys seem to be good at finding parts for sale, I've been looking for a Rubicon 241 myself. If anyone finds one locally, let me know. I'm currently working on one in L.A., but I would have to ship. Don't like buying site unseen. Thanks.
