I DID A SEARCH DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING.
IS IT FOR BETTER RECPTION?
IS IT FOR LESS TRAFFIC?
OR IS JUST BECAUSE?

One day a group of guys used channel 4 and it sorta stuck.
"Hey you wanna use channel 4 again?"
"Sure why not"
Today we used channel 5 because 4 was crowded :)

Kyle nailed it. 4wheelers tradionaly use "4" since it there number... 4x4. Once upon a time before cell phones. I used ot drive around in town and would keep my CB on channel 4 and talk to other wheelers on 4.
4, 14, 24, 34, or 40, a pretty common "default".
19 got stuck with trucker channel since 19, techinally has the strongest wave length of the 40 channel spectrum

Is that because it is the middle of the wave length? Would that make 24 stronger than 4?

no it makes 24 a loser just like the race he just ran

Thanks for the input.
A field report form yesterday. At lunch started to pick squelch breaks from another group. We switched to ch 24 seemed a little bit cleaner. But that might have just ben the beautiful weather:smug:

Then, shouldn't we be using channel 16?

Truckers used 19 when there where only 23 too. Besides using that logic, they should be on 18.

years ago truckers used to use 18 more than 19. Now mostly depends on what part of the country you are in as to what chanel they use. As for chanel 4 for wheeling......thats what they told me to set it on???????:aagh:
If you want peace and quite then go with a 10 meter and convert it and make your own quite spot.:smug:

Truckers in some parts of the country use channel15 and I wouldn't recommend
going with 10 meters and converting it, as thats illegal.:) Get your Ham license
and go 2 meters or 70 centimeters.

I heard truckers traveling north and south use channel 18 and those running east west use 19. Or vice versa.
