Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
az_vjc group:
Do you belong to ASA4WDC?
This is just an informational poll.
Names won't be seen. I would like the
entire group to give some feedback on
this. If there are catagories I missed,
I apologize.
o Yes, I purchased an individual membership
X Yes, I belong through another club
o No, I don't care to join
o No, I don't know nothing about ASA4WDC
o No, I don't live in Az
To vote, please visit the following web page:

The AZVJC will NEVER join the ASA4WDC because we are an un-organised
club. The VJC will NEVER organise.....That is a good thing.

Hey James,
Just a quick observation:
If anywhere near half of us are "personal" members of ASA, then that makes
us at least one of the single largest contributors to the ASA, if not the
largest.
My point is this:
It would seem we are giving the ASA allot of money and resource and we are
not reaping the benefit of REPRESENTATION.
Clubs get delegates that vote for stuff. We don't.
That is probably why we are in the dark about the inner workings of the
Jamboree.
I for one would rather recognize the problem and try to do something about
it, that way when I gripe about something, I feel like I'm at least
justified.
Nothing personal directed at you at all.
Just taking it a step further to explain my thinking.

Subject: Spook Rally
For those of you who are actually participating in the Rally, stop by and
say Hi to me!
For the rest of you the following is from Nasser:
The Spook Rally is an annual event that the Arizona Rough Riders hold
around Halloween.
Here are some IMPORTANT details:
The registration deadline for this year's event has come and gone!
The event is only for the registered participants. We are accepting
no "walk-in entries" this year since there is a long stand-by list.
The names are picked in a lottery fashion, and this year 100 names
were drawn from of 150+ entries.
This event is NOT OPEN to unregistered public! The agencies are
watching us here as well. It takes the Rough Riders about six months
to plan this event and all we can accommodate are the folks that have
already registered (100 or so vehicles).
If anybody is interested on being on the list for next year's Rally
drawing please send me an email OFF LINE to nasser88@c... and I'll
make sure that your name gets on the list. You will receive a
registration package in August or September.

Subject: Poll numbers not accurate picture
I don't think the poll numbers are going to give you an accurate
picture (maybe just a trend). As of now, out of 22 replies, 12 (54%)
are ASA4WDC members, directly or indirectly.
This does not mean that out of over 2,100 members over a 1,000 are
ASA4WDC members, since many members are inactive & only 1,284 members
are even in this Yahoo Group to cast votes.
Is there a better source somewhere?

What about the another approach... Why couldn't ASA4WDC make an addendum
or exception to their rules to accept us (AzVJC) as we are and invite us
as a member. I would think that with the strength we have shown it might
be in there best interest to do so. I really think the only thing we
would have to do is nominate and vote for a representative(s) to speak
for AzVJC at ASA4WDC meetings.
Now whether this will prevent another fiasco like this years Jamboree, I
doubt it but you never know.
Truth be told I can care less what people, groups and clubs or the
general public think of AzVJC. As long as we are morally doing the right
thing and teach good practices by example I don't have a problem being
part of AzVJC.

Subject: Re: [az_vjc] 4-wheelers plight
Actually Stu, it is my hope that collectively we can have a larger voice
in the 4 wheeling arena, Right now, we simply aren't part of the process
unless we choose to be as individuals. Politicians listen to the voice
of one voter, they HEAR the voice of 2000 voters. I'm sure in your life
experience you may have found the same to be true. Although we may not
be talking about the formal arena of politics, 1 management agency may
more closely scrutinize the actions of an employee, of an RMP or land
use decision knowing that there are 2000 people strong behind that voice
in a meeting room.
The answer to some of your questions by the way, might be "NO", perhaps
time will tell you the answer to these since you have joined a club.
Personally, I think it may make you a more informed and EFFECTIVE voice.
Besides, who said anything about making you a better 4 wheeler? Maybe
You need to make THEM better! I think in your case Stu, you'd be better
off thinking along the lines of what you yourself are bringing to the
table, and not what you are going to get to eat!
What good would it have done if we had been a club?
Maybe you would have been the ASA4WDC delegate to remember to ask if
Jamboree things were cleared with the National Guard? Private land
owners? conflicting events, etc.
The fact that we are not more organized seems to make it easier for
those who wish to do nothing to continue to do so. It also makes it
EXTREMELY easy for those who are supposed to "Represent" us as
"Individuals" to become a little more "Comfy" in their lack of effort.
It's human nature when you are part of a "team effort" to pitch in and
do your share.(And also encourage others to join in).
There are those among us to which this 4 wheeling thing is just a fad,
like CB radios were or whatever, and that when it's no longer "Cool"
will sell their Jeeps, that's fine. But for those people who put forth a
serious effort to build their Jeeps into truly capable off road
machines, I say it might not be a bad idea to put as much effort into
making sure there's a place for you to enjoy it as you did to build it.
Organized 4 wheeling gives some people that capability. I recognize a
need for it now more than ever, and feel perhaps I should try to
convince others to feel the same way.
I know I didn't come near close to answering everything you had
questions about, but hopefully it helps.
Ohh yeah, no flame war here either Stu, we both know where the other is
coming from, (although I may not be as eloquent) and I respect your
input.

I see one big problem with the ASA. A couple years ago I joined.
Somewhere along the way my membership expired and I never received any
kind of renewal notice. So I probably haven't been an ASA member for at
least 2 years. I guess if they really wanted to boost their numbers they
could send out a renewal notice to at least keep their existing members.

Hey James,
Just a quick observation:
If anywhere near half of us are "personal" members of ASA, then that
makes us at least one of the single largest contributors to the ASA, if
not the largest. My point is this: It would seem we are giving the ASA
allot of money and resource and we are not reaping the benefit of
REPRESENTATION.
Clubs get delegates that vote for stuff. We don't.
That is probably why we are in the dark about the inner workings of the
Jamboree. I for one would rather recognize the problem and try to do
something about it, that way when I gripe about something, I feel like
I'm at least justified.
Nothing personal directed at you at all.
Just taking it a step further to explain my thinking.

ASA4WDC is sounding worse by the email. At least to me.
I am boycotting ASA4WDC by not joining until "personal" members get a

The way I understand Bill's message it indirectly addresses your
problem.
Until and unless more people get directly involved (via an organized
club), then concerns like yours won't be addressed. Not that their
lack of organization is excusable but, they don't have this valueable
input to build on.

Do you belong to ASA4WDC?
This is just an informational poll.

I apologize.
o Yes, I purchased an individual membership
X Yes, I belong through another club
o No, I don't care to join
o No, I don't know nothing about ASA4WDC
o No, I don't live in Az

Shouldn't there be a delegate for non associated members?
ASA4WDC is sounding worse by the email. At least to me.
I am boycotting ASA4WDC by not joining until "personal" members get a
representative(s) that is proportional.

Hey James,
Just a quick observation:

The way I understand Bill's message it indirectly addresses your
problem.
Until and unless more people get directly involved (via an organized
club), then concerns like yours won't be addressed. Not that their
lack of organization is excusable but, they don't have this valueable
input to build on.
