my 97 wrangler is always been generally loud. im thinking its just the muffler i checked the exhaust manifold and there isnt any signs of cracking. there is a seal that is between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe, maybe it needs replaced? the screw down there is looksens and starts to rattle and i ws thinking about getting a new seal and bolts im just trying to make it a bit quieter and smoother sounding?? any ideas?

My 97 TJ was very noisy and I took it into Mesa Muffler for a free diagnosis. Turns out I had a disintegrated CAT.

Walker quiet flow mufflers. You can get them at Napa. You might have to run the one that fits backwards but it will not effect performance.

i had it on my jeep for 4 months and honestly like the sound of the 4.0 with no muffler on it going to a long arm, and want to get the hush power from flowmaster

FYI, stock engines with no muffler may sound "mean" but they will make less torque than a stock engine with a OEM muffler... And in some instances they will make less peak horsepower too....
All that extra noise gets you is the "feeling" your going faster... :D

that is true.
Now for those who don't know, why don't you inform them to WHY it causes the engine to loose hp and torque.

Too many variables to explain, I would be here for hours... gave it a shot and kept editing my post... I've been at this game (engines) for twenty years and I am still learning, even today.... :D
