Come on Jason.... do you really expect me not to bust your balls about HOW FREAKIN' EXPENSIVE it will be to get all of the above done at the dealer (especially gears)? ...even if it assures the warranty is intact?

Thats Perception.......Our AZVJC Discount is 10% of our Cost!!!! We will also work out a good deal on labor for AZVJC Members.
When I went to re gear my jeep I checked Airpark Price,4 wheelers and absolute Offroad. All the prices were within $10...Why Did I choose Joe??? I have wheeled with him and he is very knowlegable about re-gears Etc and I wanted to spread my money around a bit!

Yeah, I know on the parts. The VJC gets great prices through Airpark. I still don't believe the OEM O2 sensor I bought from you was actually cheaper than the generic one from Autozone... but I was mainly talking about labor. Even discounted dealer labor is enough to make someone cry. ;) Back when I got my A/C condenser fixed airparks shop rate was I believe $105/hr compared to Darner's $85... so a "discount rate" would have to be hella-huge. :smug:

Looks good.
Most of the dealers carry modifed vehicles.
Can you get the mods done for less on your own, probably. But they must sell them or they would stop doing it. Some people would just rather get it all done and rolled into the financing than figure out how to get it done themselves.
To each their own :)

I don't think Darner has any stars. My daughter has resorted to taking her Crossfire warranty work to Superstition Springs.
I don't even want to go into the horror stories she has had with Darner.

Not trying to be ugly but just have to say. I don't have a clue what those numbers mean to me, therefore they don't justify the price difference. If it means you sell more and have a higher "happy" rate, that is great, but not worth $160 more in labor on an 8 hour install. I realize the rate is dickerable for AZVJC, but still, the local shops are even less. I hear too many places try and claim their higher prices are worth it cause they have better service.....that only carries it so far

Where's the holy crap falling off the chair emoticon when you're needing it? :dunce: Honestly Jason, I doubt you'll convince anyone on this forum that your shop be even remotely close to competitive to the forum sponsors here.... not to mention I think the sponsors here are more qualified (at least from an experience standpoint) to install said kit. Yeah your guys are experts in DC vehicles and are trained to work on them... but when working out of the box your guy's DC training is no longer an advantage and if anything is a disadvantage. Anything else is just :pile: (almost wanted to use that emoticon). If I had the option to pay exactly the same amount at Airpark as for instance DesertFab I'd go to DesertFab every time... now this is for an aftermarket lift... if I were trying to troubleshoot something else I'd pay more money to visit airpark as that's their (your) forte.

Here's my experience on this as of today:
I need new wheels for my JK to put my KM2's on. I can't do cheap steelies but I also don't want a lot of bling. I see the pic above of this built jeep and think what tha? Joe from Absolute said I couldnt run black steelies, so I call Jason and ask him why they are using steelies. Jason takes the time to explain that these wheels are alloys (not steelies) and tells me the difference and options with Pro Comp wheels and says to call Travis to get price.
My first thought? Yeah right....I don't want to spend my lift budget on wheels. So I hang up and call discount.
Emery is not in today. Discount guy asks me if he can help me. Umm, no...no, no I'll wait for Emery cause I want to see if he can get me a deal since I'm with VJC. Discount guy says I can help you with that and gives a price of $130 per wheel which is cheaper than the places I found them online and they only charge $12 per wheel to mount and balance on my tires.:fashizzle:
Only problem is that they are on back order and it will take a month to get them and I can't order and pay for them over the phone.:knife:.
I call Absolute Offroad and their price was higher and also said they were on backorder. :aagh:
I call Airpark parts for :001_9898: and :laugh2:. Travis calls back and gives price that was less than Absolute but more than Discount. I tell Travis the price that Discount gave me. He matches $130 per wheel. Then says let me check availability. Wheels are on back order and none in stock at Airpark, but he sees them in stock at 2 other dealership: 4 wheels in Colorado and 1 in So. Cal and says he will get them shipped over to Airpark in 3-4 days and at no cost to me. I consider this going the extra mile, something a 5 star dealership does for its customers. Travis says Airpark charges flat rate to mount and balance and the cost would be $17.25 per wheel...more than Discount, so labor would cost $26 more than Discount, but I can order and pay for the wheels over the phone.
Now I have a cousin that goes to tech school and can probably mount them for free so I tell Travis I'll decide on the mount and balance when the wheels come in and buy them over the phone from Airpark. They'll be here next week. :fashizzle:
After thinking about it, my cousin is a flake and Jason has given me free consultation on Jeep parts and thanks to Airpark I don't have to wait a month to get my wheels and tires on my Jeep, so I'll save myself the hassle of hauling them down to Discount and just get em done at Airpark the same day I schedule to get my oil change done.
In the end, I was pleasantly surprised that they could give me the best deal and service on these wheels. Now, do I expect Airpark to always be cheaper...No, I dont...but I also don't expect Absolute Offroad or Discount to always be the cheapest either, and as Mike mentioned, I am not always entirely interested on getting the cheapest price if installing it requires specialized knowledge such as with a lift kit.

Yep, preachin' to the choir. I've even priced out some components for my Dodge truck through them (my hydroboost is dead) and with our discount you can't beat them. The buying power they have as a dealer combined with the small markup they provide is a smokin' deal.

Mike, I understand your point of vue! The tech that install are lifts has been with Jeep since the AMC days....20+ years! We also have been using the Tera Flex lifts for 5 years! Yes, we are more on our lifts that other shops..we do include front tracbars/front discos/shocks which add to the install price. Todd your friend was quoted a sales dept. price and wanted a kit that we typically do not stock. In the end we are very competitive and we try to earn your business if we can!

I must agree with Mike on the "out of the box" mods done right. I trust my Jeep to few places that I would drop it off and ask when to pick it up for that type of work.
I haven't had work done at every 4x4 shop in town but I have stopped by and talked with more than a few...I can tell rather quickly whether or not they know their stuff.
Overall 4wheelers is as good a shop as you will find anywhere for a place that large.
DesertFab: Dave & Todd have done work for me and I fully endorse them. The only drawback that shop has is its location just this side of El Paso Tx as I remember from the last time I was out that way. :drummer:
Absoulte Off Road: Joe is a top wrench and IMO one of the best around.
I am sure there are other shops that rate well but I cannot say...
That said I looked at the mods done to the JK and they are far from being out of the box. Its all bolt on and well within the parameters of any Jeep without any significant mods to accept the install. I would have no problem with the mods on that JK being done by Airpark.
Out of the box Mods. Here is my def for this: Any modification performed that requires pre-modifications in order to install the mod. Basically if you have to mod the Jeep to accept the mod then it becomes as Mike said "out of the box". These can get tricky and it takes a experienced person with a background in Jeeps to often attempt these types of Mods.
There does come a time where FEW dealers have the in-house moxie to work on them.
