I've switched or in the process of switching to AMSOIL synthetic lubricants in all my vehicles. The first vehicle to get the new fluids were the diesel tow rig. After 3 months and 3,000 miles I'm averaging almost 2 miles more per gallon unloaded and at least 1 more mpg loaded.

If you're interested in purchasing some AMSOIL products or just learning more about them, click the link:

Just be careful on using their filters on your diesel. I haven't followed this in a handful of years but a few years back there were some instances on the TDR of Amsoil filters coming apart and allowing filter pieces to clog up oil passage ways and causing expensive damage. This could be forum gossip but there were pictures posted up on the TDR that made it believable to me... but you never know since there's so many Amsoil haters out there.... because of this though I'll never run anything but Fleetguard filters on my diesel rig.

Didn't see anything for T/C or did I miss it? Do you use it in T/C?

I also did gear oil in both the truck and the Jeep.

In the truck I used 75W-90 SVG (Severe Gear)

and in the Jeep 75W-140 (SVO). http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1530174&page=storefront/svo
Last weekend I cracked open the front diff cover and the fluid looked great after about 1000 miles and around 20 moderate to hard trails.

Here's a comprehensive report on Gear Oil, pretty good reading and current info. My decision to switch fluids was heavily influenced by what I read in this report.

Im not big fan of mobil 1 as everything got quieter and smoother feeling when I switched from mobil one to RP or Amsoil. I used to run royal purple in my engine and rear diff of my 350Z and loved it. I now run Amsoil in my diesel and my Jeep. My diesel gets about 1 - 2 miles per gallon better on the highway. My diesel diffs are going to get Amsoil or Royal Purple here in a week or two. I haven't decided which yet. Any suggestions of one over the other??? All in all I think the premium syn oils seem to be good.

Check out the gear oil study, kind of long, but a good overview:
