huge thanks to brian 2badI1 for basically installing it for me. Question though, the jeep has a heavy vibration under throttle (sye kit?) and the transmission has a very odd feel. It shifts into 1,3,5 normally, but 2,4,R it feels a little tight with some resistance. Those are all gears which are close to the driver. Could transmission angle cause this? I'm at a loss. I also noticed a slight whine while coasting in neutral at 30.

Anyone who has ideas would be appreciated.

Oh and we happened to notice I have bent tie bar and have to fix that too. Looks like the hole has been dug and its time to start filling it with my money.

Remove the t-case drop, sometimes you dont need it, try removing it and bolting everything back up as it was stock.

Other then that possibly you have bad u-joints.

The vibes are likely caused by the incorrect rear pinion angle that is mis-aligned with the transfer case output shaft.

After my 3.5" lift was installed I had real bad vibrations. I already had the transfer case drop kit installed from the previous lift kit. My lift has adjustable lower control arms, so I was able to reset the pinion angle and now the vibes are tolerable.

I'm still planning to put in my SYE + CV shaft soon so I can get rid of the drop kit and eliminate the vibes totally.

There may be cheaper ways to resolve it without going with SYE. I"ve heard some people suggest a transfer case drop kit and a motor mount lift, but I don't have any experience with this, so hopefully others can comment on it.

HTH...good luck!

John, when you installed the t-case drop kit, it lowered the trans shifter just enough to cause the boot to bind up when the shifter is pulled back. Its normal when you do a Drop instead of a full sye, and should not hurt anything, its just a little annoying. Make sure your t-case will go into low range also. As for the noise.....if you wanna swing by I can go for a drive with ya, but on the web there is no way of telling for sure without playing the " Well my friend had the same noise and it was.........."

came to this realization after trying to put my skid on that i need my sye installed as well the pinion angles was at something lik 22 degrees with just taking off the transfer drop what ideally is a good angle

Try a MML also. Joe will get you straightened out. I am assuming it is a SA kit, since it is a 3 1/2" lift and you are talking about skid spacers. Adjustable rear UCAs might be in order, to combat DS vibes also. Also, Joe has a bracket to help with the 4WD shifter.

A little more info on the kit he had. Only springs, shocks, front sway bar disconnects and rear track bar relocation kit. No control arms were replaced, (he wanted to save on funds to upgrade later), so I had no way of adjusting pinion angles. Definitely needs SYE and CV drive shaft. I was actually surprised there were no death wobble or bump steer issues. Like John and I talked about it's a hobby that keeps sucking money from you. Here is a pic after install.

That's only 3.5"? I know the RE kits run high, but that looks taller than my RE 4.5

I'm gonna say that at the minimum, you are going to need some adjustable rear UCA's to fix the pinion angle.

Take it to Joe and he'll get you straightened out.

Looks good, John!

But now that lift makes your tires look really small!

So now it's time for some 33's...after you get your vibes taken care of!

When you get the 33's, then you need new gears, and since you're doing the gears might as well install lockers too....sounds like the money pit has opened up!
