Question for the guru's: I was trying to install a winch plate on my Jeep last night. While removing the tow hook from the passenger side the nut on the rear bolt broke away from the frame. I was able to get the bolt out, remove the bumper and get the nut. However I don't see how that nut can be reattached to the inside of the frame rail. Is it even possible to get a welder in there to try and weld it? Any ideas on how to fix it? I really want all six bolts holding that winch plate to the frame.

Thanks

Sure can, easy enough,

If you want Kevin swing by my house and I can weld it back up in there.

should be able to get it tacked back in there....even if you put a bolt in the treads...pull it up, and tack the top...then grind smooth and then take bolt out...then plate back on and bolt down...Id get the otehrs tacked a bit more as well..

you gonna be sportin winch by the 28th..?

Kevin, if you want to swing by tomorrow, we can take a look at it. Should be able to get at it and tack it. Let me know.

If I can get this nut reattached I will. I picked up Jim's old winch.

I broke those on my Jeep as well, for the inside one ( the one behind the crossmember) it's easier with a stick welder.

I just wanted to post up and thank Ben(1toughxj) for welding that nut back to the frame for me tonight. You rock dude! It was also cool catching up with ya for a bit and seeing your XJ. That's gonna be bad *** when it's done!

I also wanted to thank Adam and Fourxdad for offering to help. If you guys lived a little closer I probably would have taken you up on it. And thanks Frenchie for letting me know that I'm not the first one that this happened to.
