I've never owned a S&W handgun....so today, I decided it was time to change that fact.
I've been reading about the little J frame revolvers and those similar designs from other companies.
I got off work early today and added a S&W Model 637 "Airweight" to the collection. Haven't shot it yet.....saving that for tomorrow.
I snapped a couple of photos of it.....geez, I'm as proud of it as I am my new grandson! :D
A few rounds of genuine military .38 special hardball and my Benchmade knife.

15 ounces + 5 rounds = FUN!!!!

My paws aren't that big (medium sized hand I would say).

Nice looking gun. How does it fit your hand?

I like the looks of that. I don't own a revolver yet but have been looking at them for awhile. Please post up how it shoots and any quirks you happen to notice. I know some weapons like specific make of rounds and certian grain of powder. I would appreciate any input you have after firing it.
Thanks.
The beauty of a revolver is that it doesn't rely on the round firing to load the next round. They aren't picky about what you put in them. Accuracy is supposedly increased with the longer barrels, but at 7 yds. the snub-nose will give you a good group, just practice with it Stu, you know the drill.....
One of the guns my dad left me was a .38 colt snub-nose, he used it as his "boot gun".

I have basically the same gun, but double action only, no hammer=easier concealment. The 642 with the CT grips. It's a fantastic little gun. My wife carries it with Speer Gold Dot 125gr +P. Great for pocket carry.

Very nice. I wonder how that Airweight feels going off with some +P+ loads? In a tense situation I guess you woundn't even notice it, though.

I'm looking forward to giving it a try tomorrow.....that one and my Mark1 (got another red dot on it).
I stopped by Walmart this afternoon and picked up my bi-monthly ammo purchase. Geez....I paid more for 100 rounds of Winchester White box in .38 than I did for 100 rounds of Blazer Brass in .45. :( Hopefully another Walmart will have .38 Blazer.
I've got some .38 light hand loads on the shelf that I'll try along with the Winchesters I bought today.
I also picked up a box of carry ammo, Hornady 125 gr.HP/XTP +P. I'll give that a try and see how it handles in regards to recoil. It is not rated for +P+ so I don't think I'll be pushing those down the barrels.
Overall, it fits my strong hand pretty well. I don't think I'm going to have a big issue controlling it, although I'm sure it won't feel anything like my Security Six or one of the .45s.
For me, it seems to "naturally" point a little high and so I'm really going to have to pay attention to the sight picture. If I can get fast controlled pairs at 10 yards, I'll be happy with it. I'll practice out a bit further but I want good 10 yard usability.

a gun like that is a "metal on meat" sorta weapon...outline of weapon on the outline of the meat...;)

Why are you violating one of the MOST important rules of gun safety in the pic below..? Bad habit to be in....unless its fully triple checked and you are dry firing...keep that booger hook, off the bang switch :D

you should still get into the habit of running that finger along the frame, or slide. Just a good habit for safety.
