Well im at 34k miles on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler with the 6 speed manual and im getting told by Moore Chrysler Jeep that the noise im hearing is my clutch. Im getting told by friends that its not my clutch and that its my throw out bearing. So guess im just gonna replace the clutch then if it still makes noise then take it to Moore and tell them to fix it since I have a extended 75k mile warranty. So im curious I heard that Luk makes great clutches and also heard Centerforce does. But then again I heard bad about Centerforce, that they are over price junk. So you guys tell me what you perfer. I only really know 3 brands of clutches, I will put up other if you guys perfer something else. Thanks
Dustin

I just had a Centerforce I put in...I have a review in the product reveiw section.
It blows OEM away...cant say about the others but Centerforce is based out of Chino Valley AZ and I like to support local buisness.

Centerforce are great for racing and hi performance and such, but not for Jeeping so much. I would go with Luk for aftermarket, but have DC replace your existing TO bearings first. A clutch is a wearable part, and will probably NOT be covered by warranty. I have 75K+ on my stock clutch, and still working fine. And I am not real easy on it.

Luk or centerforce.
Like I said before.... the noise sounds like the throw-out bearing.
just replace the damn thing already!!! You been talking about it for what 2 months now. hahahaha

I had a simmilar noise and my OEM clutch was falling apart and causing the sound, it left me on the side of the road when it finally went. I think it made noise a few months first but I would fix it ASAP.

I have had the same clutch for 14 years... I am due for it going out soon. I can't really help. I have heard about centerforce, good things and they are in the mags but I was told by a mechanic buddy they are more for the hot-rodders but will work fine. I imagine you can get the higher end centerforce if you are worried.

I might not be the best driver ever but I have been driving stick since I was 8...and never had an issue in any other vehicle. But I did teach my girlfriend to drive stick on my Jeep...which was hell on the clutch, it took months to and she still couldn't drive mine, then she got herself a CJ-5 and can shift it fine, now she can drive my Jeep too.
Her rough learning period might have been to blame for my early failure. (Sure blame the girl...typical. hehe)
If you can drive a '66 VW with a worn out german 4 speed you can drive any stick. Kudos to those who know where the revese gear is...

For those suggesting OEM and other non-centerforce and Luk clutches, how come?
Performance clutches seem to only be a tab more expensive. In my case the Centerforce I was only $30-40 more than the cheap "made in china" brand at NAPA. I am not sure where the Centerforce is made exactly, but it looked like high quality stuff and feels better than the day my Jeep rolled off the lot. It has a very definative friction point now and holds like glue compared to OEM. All my opinion but it seems well worth the money for a performance part, especially when that part isnt much more expensive.

87,000 miles on our '97 TJ. 10,000 miles on the backroads, lots of 4wd low, no issues with the original stock clutch. Of course, I have been driving stick for fifty-five years. While I am replying, what is the top cruising speed in fourth gear, 4wd low?

We love you too, Shannon. It made my day when Brad reached in and put your Jeep into 4 low on your first run through Tie Rod wash. I seem to remember a smoky smell then too.....
Stock clutches are durable, even when you abuse them. Dustin's problem is his throw out bearing, and a slight case of "upgradeitis", but I can't help him with that.:smug:

Lance is providing some sage advice, you would be a wise man to follow.
Centerforce is great clutch and those guys have been around the block in the clutch business and most of the time they are going around that block they are doing 1320 feet at a time. I have bought them, used them and recommend them anytime you need to move your rig 1320 feet. Another major advantage they have is they perform exceptionally well in the RPM band way beyond anything our Jeep engines well probably ever see. Take our Jeep engine where Centerforce will go is a short ticket to a oil pan full of engine parts...the good news is the clutch will not need to be replaced.
LuK makes the OEM clutches of the 4.0 and in fact makes a hi-perf unit called the "LuK Gold". www.luk.com
If I were to and when it is time to spend my $ on a clutch it will be a LuK Gold without hesitation.
For my high revving Chebby that gets twisted to 7k RPM where I side step the clutch pedal for my LAUNCH down that 1320 its Centerforce all the way.

Thats funny right there! I know how to drive clutch, its just these 6 speed are junk. They should of left that damn tranny in the crossfire and put the 5 speeds in the Jeep, but then again thats Dodge for ya! I got over 180k miles on my 68' chevy truck when I had it and it was a 3 speed manual on the column. I never had problems with that clutch, then again this truck was made by Americans when they use to be made to last, unlike now. :fashizzle:

Oh yeah forgot about this video that I took when I would press my clutch into the floor it would make that weird noise, then when I would let out it would make the noise again. Moore Chrysler Jeep told me that its my clutch going out, but everyone else is saying its my throw out bearing and that my warranty should cover it. But Moore is telling me that its a wear and tear item comes with 12k or 12 month whichever occurs first. I dont understand I bought a extended warranty to 75k and no one wants to take the time and fix my problem. Anyways it started to make a new noise the other night as well. Kinda like the sound of your disc brakes when they squeel but worst. I know its not my brakes I had my friend drive my jeep slow as I walked with it. Sounds like its coming from the tranny area. All I know is I can put it in 2nd gear and go about 25mph then let off the gas and it will make this weird squeel sounds like a brake noise but its not. Well anyways heres the first noise I started to hear.

Could be, times change and what was once a great company with fine products often will falter and Vice Versa.
The company they are today might not be the company that I once knew.
