It will start if i have my foot on the gas, but i let off and it dies immediately. Suggestions? Common problem? Got stuff to do and its my DD! Thanks for any help.

The Idle Air Control Motor might also be stuck.

Do you have a check engine light on? My experience with chrysler products that won't idle shows a lot of them have battery or alternator issues. How old is the battery?

Not something you might think of, but does it continue to do this if you jumper the battery with another vehicle?

I had an issue a year or so ago where my XJ would do the exact same thing as yours... die as soon as your took your foot off the gas. I put the jumpers from my XK to the XJ and it ran fine without my foot on the gas. As soon as I pulled the jumper cable off... *thunk* the XJ died.

It turned out that the battery was bad and was not holding any charge at all. Just something you might want to take five minutes to try before you go replacing vaccuum lines or sensors.

Corbas, let me know how it goes. If I wasn't stuck at work right now I would come over and give you a hand since you are practically walking distance from my house.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago. Got a few extra weeks out of my old battery by adding distilled water to it. Unfortunatley when it finally went out for good, it was in the middle of the night at the gas station at albertsons. I had to spend the next day trying to get the battery out in the middle of the parking lot... lots of fun

have to thank you guys for the help. I didn't think of the battery because it turned over fine, just wouldn't stay running. As always, i can count on you guys to help out.

Glad we could help you out. It isn't something most people would think of unless they had experienced that kind of weird behavior before.
