Ok I was putting the top back on the Jeep this afternoon, b/c I've had the bikini top on for the summer and it's been in the garage the past few months. As most of you know I'm selling it, figured if anyone wanted to come see it, I should have the top on.
Put it on and the zipper kind of stuck on the rear window, then the the zipper part just broke (the part where you pull the zipper) :pinch:. Can you buy one of those, just the zip piece???? :aagh:

I have problems with my zipper sticking all the time. I've broken a couple of them, but usually can fix it just by pulling hard. Make sure nothing is in there though.

in regards to your jeep, that sux.

Terron took one of the two zippers off the rear window and put it on the side window.

Are you talking about the handle, or the anvil? If it's just the handle, use a piece of shoe string or similar... If it's the anvil, try an upholstery shop, and yes, there are several to choose from in LA/Buckeye area...;)

Just a hint for all you guys -n- gals with soft tops, or zippered tops/shades, or what-have-you on your vehicles/boats, etc...;
Go to the grocery, and find the aisle where the canning goods are, and buy a stick of canning wax (parafin). Then, lightly rub (inside & out) all the zippers once every couple months (more if you cycle them a lot), and voila, you will discover they operate SO much easier, and you won't be breaking or cussing them cause they are sticky-stiff, any longer...:smug:

HTH... Good Luck...;)

PS: most any parafin wax candle will work just as well...;)

In a pinch, you can use a wad of wax paper, but that's usually such a pain to get enough wax on to do a good job...;)

I use a bar of soap......It works good and leaves the area smelling oh-so-sweet...depending on the brand of soap!

Shannon, depending n what you need to fix/replace/repair....there is a place called H&R sales down on 35th ave, just south of the free way, west side of the road that has EVERYTHING for any type of upholstery, zippers included. Let me know of I can be of any help. I have gone a few rounds with our soft top.

I have no idea about any Mopar offerings... Until this moment I was unaware they offered any type of lube material for top/window zippers.

Personally, I would be a little gun-shy about liquids as they seem out here to be like a dust magnet... But I could be wrong... Like I said, was unaware of any Mopar offerings until now...

That said, I'm gonna stick with what I know works... Been using parafin, for the window & top zippers in my cars, tents, & boats since I was a kid in the boy scouts... Worked like a champ on the corroded and stuck old brass back window zipper in my first car (a '57 convertible)...:baby:

:);)

PS: Like was said...A bar of soap works "ok" as well... Just my experience that it doesn't seem to last as long...;)

in scuba, for our drysuit zippers, we use bee's wax to lubricate it.. should work well for the window zippers as well.

post up pics might be the same problem i had . with mine i pulled the little tab off on the passenger side and replace with another zipper which can probably be found at joans or Micheal's craft stores. some food for though before you spend an arm and leg from an upholstery shop
