04 LJ 3.5" RE lift, stock control arms, 1" BL & MML. Recently I installed front sway bar disconnects. When I disconnect, the front driveline rubs cross brace for the tranny skid when the front driver tire drops. When Jeeps sets level the front driveshaft is about 2" away from cross brace. Anyone else have this problem? Fixes? Cut and hack? Aftermarket?
Thanks Walter

Usually people remove the skid when installing the lift. You have a few options -

One is to get an aftermarket skid that covers your oil and tranny pan (SkidRow, 4 wheelers, etc.).

Two, take the skid off and not replace it with anything, until you put a dent in the tranny pan and then do #1 plus replace the tranny pan.

Three - Leave the sway bar connected and stay on pavement with existing skid.

HTH :)

Mine has rubbed a few times (the telltale sign is there) but really not much to worry about on mine. If yours is rubbing bad I'd just notch it a bit.

The tranny skid ? Just a little ?

Must be different that mine.........no way will it allow the sway bar to be disconnected for long.

I thought you had a manual ???

Notching the skid will be fine for the time being.. Just remember that after it is notched it will be more suseptible to bending eaiser when you smash it on the rocks..

Auto.
I think I'm going for your option #1.
I didn't even think to post tranny type.
