I was thinking of removing the windsheild Frame.....no big deal right? If I remove the windsheild by unbolting everything I lose the top mount for the doors and I want to keep them cause they good sliders. So can I just remove the pin on the hinges? If so then what's the best way to get them out?

wait until Wayco gets back from the Crown King run - he used to do this for a living
(until I made him quit and take care of me)

I did what lance did. I cut hinge pin between the fittings. When I rempve windsheild I just unbolt from roll cage, and one bolt on side. That keeps upper door hinge for slider, and it does not look so goofy.

It depends on if you want to do this permanently or just for a run. If it's temporary, just unbolt the top of the hinge and at the roll bar. No biggie leaving the hinge intact. If you want to take it off permanently, cut the pin head off and drive it out with a punch.
Sharon (Hardline) was referring to my auto glass installation experience. If you just want to take the glass out, I can do that easy, might even get it out without breaking it, no guarantee though.

Cut the hinge pin. You can still bolt the frame back in when necessary. I LOVE running without a windshield. Less frame blocking vision, no glare, no glass to break. I just wear goggles when driving to and from the trail(and trailer it on the roads....usually). The only thing that sucks is bundling up all exposed skin when it is real cold.....like last Sat!

So what do you use in place of the hinge pin if you want to put your windshield back on?

Sounds like nothing else is needed... just the four bolts holding it in.
I would think this is only a good idea if the Jeep has a good welded in cage... otherwise you could lose some of the structural stength the windshield is supposed to provide in a rollover.

X2 on the structural strength. I haven't run without my windshield mainly due to my cage being HREW and not DOM or Chromo. The only DOM I have on my cage is my rear spreader. When I eventually redo my cage it will be DOM and I'll more than likely run without the windshield.... that is once I have my Safari top adapted to fit the cage instead of the windshield frame as I hate running without shade.

I like having the windsheild on except when I know I'm running a trail that your going to hit the windsheild frame no matter what. Like last Saturday where even when I had the windsheild down I still got hit on the driverside. Perhaps if I cut the end off on the hinge pin I can replace it with a bolt or just fingure something else out.

Charlie, Jeff Stewart (twstdtj) has a removable windshield that he was removing for wheeling and replacing for the "tow" home. He removed the pins on each side and replaced them with nuts and bolts.

2 side bolts(that let you fold down the stock windshield), and 2 bolts through cage into inside top section of frame. I have a cage, not stock bars.
