Attempting to convert my YJ from manual to power steering. Got the
pump and gear, but need to know what side is the pressure side on the
gear.

Is it the front/pass or rear/driver side hookup?

Help?!?!?

LOL!!

Welcome back Bill.

Glad someone can state their opinion without sugar coating it. I gave
up on that aluminum vs steel arguing crap last time it came up. Those
that have them want to believe there is nothing wrong with them and get
all vein popping upset when someone tries to explain it. Those that
don't have them just go crazy trying to explain the problem and get all
vein popping upset when their opinions are disregarded by those that
have them. Not my bag anymore. I'd rather work on my Jeep.

Greg,

I went from muscle to power steering in my '89 YJ. The the pressure side
has the sensor attached where the hard line from the pump meets the hose.
This hose is connected to the front/passenger side on the steering box.

Wondering if there are any runs planed for next Saturday, haven't been out
wheeling since all the closers and the Jeep has been complaining about the
lack of action.

I'm equipped for pretty much any trail so anything from a dirt road to a
line segment between two points sounds good.

Why not block off all of the bypasses since that is BLM's main
complaint? Make everyone stay in the wash FOR THE WHOLE TRAIL.
Throughout the Nat'l Forest Service this method of limiting use is
practiced with good success. I realize it would be more work than
just making a gate keeper obstacle, but the gate keeper really
doesn't address the bypass issue as once a vehicle is past the gate
keeper it can still take the bypasses.

Further, what about the gatekeeper itself? A natural obstacle would
be stacked in just as the trail has been. A man-made one would be
much more difficult to circumvent.

I'm against a gate; too easy to lock.

Subject: A BIG Thank you to Barry and 4 wheelers Supply

Hello,

In the last 9 years I have bought some Rancho shocks from 4 Wheelers Supply but never had any work done in the shop and always bought most of my stuff mail order from other vendors.

I knew that 4 Wheelers Supply had the best reputation in town for setting up gears and ARB's so when Barry answered my e-mail regarding parts prices and said to give him a call I was delighted to find out that he had the lowest prices around including my normal mail order sources.

Barry is the most customer service oriented parts guy I have ever met. He was always there for me and when I had an issue with the shop he smoothed things out. It turned out one of the gear guys decided to use his thumb as a drift punch or something which really slowed him down this week which kinda screwed up their schedule. Barry made sure everything was taken care of.

I'm definitely going to throw more business their way in the future. If you want to be treated right give Barry a call. He will also quote you some pretty good prices. Let him know you're an AZVJC member.

Mike,

I asked for people who wish to understand the differences to email me
offline... which quite a few did, and I provided them a writeup and the
description of an experiment that they can run themselves if they wish
to test whether or not what I say is true.

While I could spend hundreds of hours explaining to you the material
property differences and we could discuss the required nth order
non-linear differential equations and deformable solids theory with the
requisite materials science thrown in... I won't because it would be a
waste of my time and wouldn't change your mind.

If you are enamoured with your aluminum tierod... keep it and enjoy.

If you are protecting whoever makes these things... I respect your
honorable intentions but I find them misguided.

If you are attempting to create a public debate with me on this issue...
I must request of you what I requested of others... and write me off
list.

If you are truely interested in understanding the differences and would
like me to present you with a little experiment which will show you the
differences... write me offline and I will send it to you offline. Take
a few minutes and do the experiment yourself and then come back to me
with the results... then tell me what you think of the use of aluminum
or an aluminum alloy as a tierod.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

I said I hate an auto tran.
I said I hate it, damn you Sam!

If you should bring it on a plane,
Don’t plan to see your Jeep again.
If you approach me on a boat,
I’ll shove that trans right down your throat!

Get it through your skull so thick--
an auto trans, it makes me sick!

The fluid looks like red doggy drool;
No clutch pedal; it just ain't cool.
If I used it, I would vomit
Projectiles just like Halley’s comet!

Now remove it from my face
Before I have to trash this place.

Do not install it in your Jeep
It belongs inside a lowrider heep,
When you find the fluid, so flaming red
My laughter will ring inside your head

I know I’ve said this once before
I’m sure you think I’m quite the bore.
But I can’t stand an auto tran.
I mean I hate them, damn you Sam!

What is it with you, Sam I croaked
(I’m all worked up, my voice is choked.)
You think I want this crap, I coughed
Do you have ties to Microsoft?

Have you bundled Windows inside your tran?
So it will shift without a hand?
Well I won’t drive it anyway,
Not for a million bucks a day!

Now leave at once, you are dismissed.
Damn you Sam, I’m getting pissed!
I told you how I hate that crap.
Don’t make me give your face a slap.

Shut up Sam, don’t make me smack you.
Or the great Cornholio will attack you.
An auto trans by any rights
We have to say, Huh-huh, it bites!

The ARCA guys, those little girls
Can have the trans, it makes me hurl
I do not need the added edge
For driving up that class 5 ledge

So now I leave you with these words
An auto trans, it's for the birds
If in your rig you find this crap
Please keep shut your opinionated trap

A real man stirs a manual tran
With clutch and brake and gas we can
With grace and talent pedals fly
While those with Autos sit and cry

Not for a million bucks a day!

Now leave at once, you are dismissed.
Damn you Sam, I’m getting pissed!
I told you how I hate that crap.
Don’t make me give your face a slap.

Shut up Sam, don’t make me smack you.
Or the great Cornholio will attack you.
An auto trans by any rights
We have to say, Huh-huh, it bites!

The ARCA guys, those little girls
Can have the trans, it makes me hurl
I do not need the added edge
For driving up that class 5 ledge

So now I leave you with these words
An auto trans, it's for the birds
If in your rig you find this crap
Please keep shut your opinionated trap

A real man stirs a manual tran
With clutch and brake and gas we can
With grace and talent pedals fly
While those with Autos sit and cry

Joe West

Barry has been a real help for me as well. From the time I started
four wheeling, he has been very helpful and patient. He loves this
hobby and likes to help others out too. I always reccomend Barry and
am glad to see others do it too.

ROTFLMAO
Joe,
You have a way with quenching the heat when discussions are getting out of hand.
I am waiting for your solution to the Aluminum tie rod issue, that out to be interesting.

The Auto Tran
By Joe West

I said I hate an auto tran.
I said I hate it, damn you Sam!

If you should bring it on a plane,
Don't plan to see your Jeep again.
If you approach me on a boat,
I'll shove that trans right down your throat!

Get it through your skull so thick--
an auto trans, it makes me sick!

The fluid looks like red doggy drool;
No clutch pedal; it just ain't cool.
If I used it, I would vomit
Projectiles just like Halley's comet!

Now remove it from my face
Before I have to trash this place.

Do not install it in your Jeep
It belongs inside a lowrider heep,
When you find the fluid, so flaming red
My laughter will ring inside your head

I know I've said this once before
I'm sure you think I'm quite the bore.
But I can't stand an auto tran.
I mean I hate them, damn you Sam!

What is it with you, Sam I croaked
(I'm all worked up, my voice is choked.)
You think I want this crap, I coughed
Do you have ties to Microsoft?

Have you bundled Windows inside your tran?
So it will shift without a hand?
Well I won't drive it anyway,
Not for a million bucks a day!

Now leave at once, you are dismissed.
Damn you Sam, I'm getting pissed!

I have a piece of 3/16 plate steel, about 45 long that I need a 45 deg bend in. Actually I needed two bends but I managed to get one the hard way&.

Anyone know of a shop that can bend this steel for me? (my arms are tired :D)
