Rick,
I was sure glad to read that you and the family made it out ok.
I am so sorry that you lost your Jeep but I know that the kids are more
important than any old JEEP.... If you need any help after you eventually
get another Jeep, let me know. I'll be there to give you a hand with the
lift and any other mods...
I am glad that you and your family are safe and didn't get to banged up.
You know there is something to be said about the Unibody's in the XJ's
It looks like you took quite a hit and the majority of the passanger
compartment is in good shape. Not to bad for a rig with no Real frame.
Just think if you had a cage in it. You probablly could have just cut some
of that sheet metal out and replaced the front axle and maybe some other
minor stuff and have a instant trail rig.. :)
Well again I am So glad that you guys made it out with minimal injuries.
Take care
Dave

Subject: [TR] Trip Report - Crown King from Lake Pleasant - Saturday, August 17, 2002
Hello All,
Pat Dicks lead a trail run Saturday, August 17, 2002 across Crown King from Lake Pleasant
This was a great trip. There were no major problems. A Chevy Pickup got stuck on the ledge but was pulled off with little or no damage, he will need a new tire but I saw him in CK so I know he made it. Another jeep lost a coil spring. We raised it up on a highlift and put the spring back in place and moved on. Even the traffic moved fairly well. Thanks to all for making this a excellent wheeling trip. Sorry I didn't stay long in CK but I am having some back problems and I was in a little pain after the trip. Went home and sat in the jacuzzi and I feel a little better today (I guess I'm getting old). Hope to see you all again next year!

This unit was installed lask week. I'd like to trade it for a standard Tuffy console for my TJ. (non-stereo)
I'll be in the Valley next weekend, so shipping won't be a concern.
Lets swap!

Glad no one was seriously injured. Judging from the photo you are a
very lucky man. The jeep can be replaced. Looks like you are going to
have some help. Good luck on the rebuild.

Ive updated the draft. I really like the idea of using A B and C to further classify the trails rather than 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, etc&
Take a look, remember it is still in working mode, changes are likely still necessary esp. when it comes to the examples I have chosen.

Had our first and hopefully last major incidident today. Thankfully the guys
are OK. Bob from Phoenix "IRBOB" rolled his wagoneer off a farm road today.
Bob had minor injuries but Rob from Holland "Rob" on the forum suffered some
head injuries, a severed finger and a broken finger. The wagoneer's body is
totalled. Rob got released from the hospital with 15 staples on his head,
and his fingers all fixed up somehow.
We are standing by these guys here in Ouray and the word has already spread
on helping Bob get this or another fsj back on the road.
Rob is in good spirits, he told me "we will all look back on this in 10
years and talk about it" . He's looking forward to the 50th anniversary.
No pics today...

I'd like to be the first to initiate a Rick Beer "Jeep rebuild
fund".
Rick has supported our club and it's members, often at times
going beyond
the call of duty. I'll need a few volunteers to help
administrate the
smaller details, so e-mail me if you can help.
So far I figure PayPal is a good start, any other suggestions of

collect donations?
It's time to return some of the "Jeep Karma" Rick has shown us.

Okay, does anyone have one?
The J20 bell housing that connects a T18 to a 360 will not work. There is an adapter between the tranny and bell housing and the bell housing is made for the adapter not the tranny.

Joe,
Even though DC might have very well acknowledged their mistake, I can
say they never notified me of the error in the owner's manual. Prior to
the warrantee on my '98TJ expiring, I had mine at the dealers a number
of times. They can not say they did not have my name, address, nor
phone number and so had no way to notify me. BS!

Joe,
I've been told by several knowledgeable folks that a) GL-5 will damage
the
syncros; and, b) DC has acknowledged that it speced GL-5 in either the
owner's manual or the FSM in error. You might need to do some research
on
this. If the fluid had been changed at a dealer, they should have known
about this.
Not sure if you are subscribed to the Strokers List, but this was an
extended thread about three months ago; you might want to search through
the
archives.
Hope this helps.

See that! Group #2 had some pretty rough and tough folks in it! I know Bill had to work at it, but getting body damage on the CK trail is no easy task, for sure!
Bill&.it had been far too long without ever actually meeting you&..it was a pleasure to share the trail with you and Diane.

My donation for the month. Guess my quarter panel and cheezy bumper kept me from flopping. Diane tried to tell me it was a stupid line to pick,
By the way we got home to Heber safe and sound, and thanks to a great group again. Diane and I enjoyed it, Great job of tail gunning by Roy and Cricket in Stu's group. Stu, finally nice to met you. Your even better in person.

Just wanted to start off saying everyone is just fine & thanks for the prayers & the support
well what can I say the AZVJC lost a jeep but not a member or loved one
this morning @ 5 am or so me & my to boys Rj & Cj with their friend Tj was involved in a head on accident just east of 7th street & Deer Valley were the whoops are a drunk driver in my lane hit us as we crested the hill never had time to do or say anything just seen lights the lights out
My youngest son was pinned for awhile until rescue used the jaws of life to free his legs
no one suffered serious injury's just a few stitch's to the front & back off head
the other driver works in the states but is not a legal resident he was not wearing his seat belt
so he had some windshield for breakfast along with all the beer the cops also found some drugs in his car
the jeep is a total loss pics. soon to follow

Rick,
I was sure glad to read that you and the family made it out ok.
Take care
Dave

Hello All,
Pat Dicks lead a trail run Saturday, August 17, 2002 across Crown King from Lake Pleasant

Tom,
I am game and willing to help in any way that I can.
Rick has helped out a lot of us (me included) and I can only help out in
return.

I'd like to be the first to initiate a Rick Beer "Jeep rebuild
fund".
Rick has supported our club and it's members, often at times
going beyond
the call of duty. I'll need a few volunteers to help
administrate the
smaller details, so e-mail me if you can help.
So far I figure PayPal is a good start, any other suggestions of
where to
collect donations?

Subject: [az_vjc] Nightmare on Deer Valley
THANKS RICK BEER
