I realize it may take a while to get an answer on this since many of the people on these list are in Colorado for the 40 year anniversary of the FSJ or on their way to Crown King for the anniversary of the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club but I need some help. I am hooking up my coil away from starting my Jeep after blow head gasket and piston with a hole in it. How do I tell the positive from the negative side of my coil? One side of the coil has the words "BAT", is this the negative or positive side?

Subject: Rick Beers in Accident

On his way to the CK run today, Rick Beers was in a head on accident. A
drunk driver came into his lane and hit them head on. Everyone is ok
other than the normal bruises and pains from an accident of this
magnitude. The Jeep is totaled and they had to cut his son out of the
passenger seat as the majority of the impact was to the passenger side.

Rick is extemely lucky that it was not worse than it was.

I'd like to be the first to initiate a Rick Beer "Jeep rebuild fund".
Rick has supported our club and it's members, often at times going beyond
the call of duty. I'll need a few volunteers to help administrate the
smaller details, so e-mail me if you can help.

So far I figure PayPal is a good start, any other suggestions of where to
collect donations?

It's time to return some of the "Jeep Karma" Rick has shown us.

Tom,

I think your idea of PayPal is a great idea. For people who don't have
paypal accounts but wish to contribute, they can always just give it to the
closest member who has a paypal account and ask them to donate it for them.
If anyone wishes to contribute in the Mesa area and doesn't have a paypal
account, I can transfer the funds for you.

I imagine at a minimum, Rick has an insurance deductible to take care of...
and perhaps his Jeep was old enough that he didn't have comprehensive
coverage at all... Rick has absolutely gone out of his way for quite a few
people over the past couple of years and I for one, am grateful for the
chance to pay something back.

Tom... do you want us to contribute to your account? Let us know the
details and we'll get the ball rolling.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

Ok, for now I'll use my own PayPal Acct: tlafrance@j...
Use Quasi cash as the option, and put "Rick Beer rebuild fund" into the
notes section so I can keep it separate.
I'll open an acct at BofA next week and deposit ALL the PayPal proceeds
into it on a weekly basis.
That way we can have 2 methods of donation. Give what you can, when his
rig is rebuilt or replaced and trail worthy again, I'll post a master
list of who donated to the cause. Let the generosity flow and remember
"Jeep Karma" is always returned 10 fold.

As a side thought, I wonder if any vendors would be willing to donate to
Rick's cause?
