Poor trigger discipline, lack of proper training, alcohol = extra bunghole. Too bad. The surplus $$ spent on booze could have been better put to use via range time, ammo and more practice. It is the obligation of an individual to be proficent in the use of ANY tool for his/her self defense. Training is NOT optional.

correct me if I am wrong here (I am all but sure you will try), but it seems the implicit reasoning here is that because untrained, drunk idiot was able to have access to a firearm which resulted in the endangerment of several people, it is reason to call for the disarming of amrerica

by that reasoning, it would follow that because of the innumerable deaths and injuries caused by untrained, drunk idiots that we should disarm america of the deadliest of weapons: cars

Guns are for hunting, sport and defense, but CAN be used to kill. LEO's carry guns to (in order to uphold law) intimidate and defend. Which do you think a criminal would stop for: LEO with a 9mm or one yelling "STOP.... OR I'LL... um, um, er, .... I'll yell Stop again!!!"?
