Depends more on the kid than on anything else. Only you know your
kids. Will they behave, will they become bored, will they hate you
forever for making them miss cartoons. I have seen young children be
excellant trail companions, and adults I wish I could ask to leave.

Ok, after the automatic tranny swap, I have the AX-15 (5 speed manual) that I removed from the Jeep, for sale.
It's from a '98 TJ.
58,000 miles.
I bought the Jeep used with 13,000 miles on it, and the trannies had nothing but synthetic (Redline MT-90) in it since then. Nothing is wrong with it, as far as I know. The shifter has been custom bent for my 2" body lift.
I also have a bunch of related parts, from the swap for sale:
- Clutch. Lot's of material left on it, however if I was putting it back together, I'ld probably go on and just get a new one ;)
- Clutch plate. Great shape. No signs of wear.
- Fly wheel. Great shape. No signs of wear.
- Complete, one piece, sealed, hydraulic clutch assembly.
- Brake and clutch pedal assembly
Ahhh, heck, I can't remember what else.
All or part.
Price: e-mail me and lets talk. I want it all out of the garage ;)
Best,
Fred

closure signs. Would this be our way around that closure??? I looked around

Hello all,
I have a '98 TJ SE 4cyl 5 speed with D35 rear axle. No lift, suspension is completely stock. I'm getting a D44 from a '98 TJ 6cyl 5 speed. I'm going to install the axle before doing a lift. I'm hoping to find and use a stock drive shaft from a TJ that came with a D44. Can anyone verify it will fit because I don't think the D44 was offered for a 4cyl TJ. Seller does not have original shaft.
The D35 will be for sale, drum to drum. It has 20,008 original miles, Jeep and axle, 4.56 gears (gears have approx. 19,400 miles), factory Trak-Lok. Have yet to determine price.
Also have Powertrax No-Slip for this axle that I bought used from another AZVJC member in March but never installed $200 which is what I paid.

Thanks Gary......... my "thanks" is simply seeing all my fellow
4-wheelers/recreationists following the rules and being responsible
recreationists. I'm affected by the closures and restrictions as much as
all of you!
Re the ASLD closure at Jackrabbit & McDowell......... it's a very small
section from Jackrabbit one mile west to the next road and from McDowell to
I-10. The actual closure at Jackrabbit and McDowell doesn't really affect
4-wheelers other than where McDowell ends it's closed due to "there's no
official road there". Our access is not really affected other than that
crossing about one mile west of Jackrabbit......... make sense???
Access via Miller Road is open......... no problems.

Ok, so Im in the process of converting the AzVJC website to ASPX, using C#. The new website will be available in Beta form, while the current website will continue as is.
New features will be added, and some old things will be revamped. One of the things I think we need to take a HARD look at is Trail Ratings. Ive come up with an Alternate trail rating that I think better classifies the trails we run. So that it isnt confused with the ASA4WDC rating, it is based on a Ten scale. Take a hard look at it, realize that it is a DRAFT and let me know what you think. Take a HARD look at both of the rating systems, try to think of examples for each trail rating. Think of trails that would define both the lower limit and the upper limit of the given trail rating (For instance Predator may be the minimum definition of 4.5, and Annihilator may define the maximum definition of 4.5).
Anyway the link to the revised description is:
http://www.azvjc.org/trails/altratings.asp

Ok, so I’m in the process of converting the AzVJC website to ASPX, using C#. The new website will be available in Beta form, while the current website will continue as is.
New features will be added, and some old things will be revamped. One of the things I think we need to take a HARD look at is Trail Ratings. I’ve come up with an Alternate trail rating that I think better classifies the trails we run. So that it isn’t confused with the ASA4WDC rating, it is based on a Ten scale.

OK all....... it's just me, obviously throwing another wrench into the
pot!!!
I would really like to see VJC stay with the 1-5 rating scale as other than
one 4x4 association and the Official Jeep Jamboree, the 1-5 rating is being
used internationally. I just returned from United Four Wheel Drive
Convention and there was discussion re this exact issue. It looks like what
United is planning on doing is what I've been talking about for the past
couple of years............. break the 4.0 = 4.5 down even further. 4.0,
4.1, 4.2, ..... 4.8, 4.9 etc.
Colorado has been using the 1-10 system faithfully for years and even they
are dropping back to the 1-5. 1-10 actually leaves more questionable space
than breaking down the 1-5....... my thoughts....... guess I'm more into
everyone being "on the same page".

I have to agree with Sandee. The one thing nice about staying with the
same, consistent rating system is being able to get a general idea of
how tough (or easy) a trail is regardless if the trail is rated by the
AZVJC, the ASA4WDC, or any 4x4 club that is maintaining 4x4 trails or
trail rating for 4x4 events. The simpler the rating system the better,
but the rating system needs to describe terrain characteristics as well
as recommended vehicle modifications. The trail rating used for the
ASA4WDC 4x4 Jamboree is a good example of a 1-5 rating system.

Best,
Fred

Sandee,
I just have to say thank you for all the work you do. I've seen you take a
lot of crap from people in just the short time I've been in the club. Keep
up the hard work and thanks for helping us stay out on the trails.
If you have the time, do you know how far the land closure goes west from
Jackrabbit rd??? I went out Miller road headed north from I-10 and saw no
closure signs. Would this be our way around that closure??? I looked around
and left (just to be safe)...
Again THANK YOU!!!

Hello all,
I have a '98 TJ SE 4cyl 5 speed with D35 rear axle.
