Well, it's time for some maintenance on the TJ.

What I'm wanting done is:

Both diffs drained/filled.
Coolant drained/flushed/filled
Manual Trans drained/filled
Complete chassis/suspension lube
Oil changed
Tires Rotated

Pretty much basic stuff that I would normally do myself if I wasn't in an apartment complex. The vehicle has 60k on it and figured I better get er done.

Can anyone recommend a good/fair priced mechanic in the Gilbert/Chandler/Mesa area?

Thanks folks.

Dan

Ben wants to learn how to do the coolant flush and can do all the rest of the stuff. Do you just want to bring it by and use our garage? Ben will help you out with it and you'll save your money.

For a mechanic look in the mirror :)

I do all my own stufff and what I can't I go to Desert Fab. For parts I shop around but convenience is a big factor sometimes more than price.

Sounds like a wrenching part to me :D

just a friendly reminder that having the work done at a shop means you don't have to handle hazardous wastes.. like used motor oil, gear oil, trans fluid, and anti-freeze. And having your vehicle in the air on a hoist can make it easy to spot potential problems with your suspension and whatnot.

Thanks all for the replies and PMs. Please don't get me wrong, I've done this work before when I was at Walter Reed AMC on a previous vehicle, since they had a DIY bay/lift etc available.

However, when I consider doing it myself with this much/many fluids, I recall what my father and I did with used motor oil back in the 80's...we simply poured it down a hollow metal fence post in the backyard and forgot about it.

Now I just finished up my Degree from ASU (graduation tomorrow actually) and I majored in Environmental Science... go figure.

Anyhow, thanks for the referrals, I decided to give Desert Fab a call and scheduled an appointment. Yes, it's very likely I will leave with more than I intended to (kid in a candy store syndrom) but the other part of this is that I wanted an expert opinion as to the condition of my difs (I've never cracked these open yet) and possible identification of my r/p gears...after purchasing it (at 50k miles), I still don't know if I'm running 3.07 or 3.73.

Anyhow, thanks a bunch and I am referring my PMs to this thread for time's sake...I have to shine my shoes for tomorrow...man that brings back memories.

Congrats on the graduation :D

One thing I like about Desert Fab is not that much on the shelf so if I have to think about it I probably won't order it. I'm too impulsive :D

Good thing they DID have a 4.56 R/P on the shelf though or I would have had a jeep 1/2 in, 1/2 out of the garage for a couple days :)
