Every night about this time I heat up the hot tub and gaze at the stars, nebulas and stuff! I even got a cool program the shows them all and gives names, distance, type, and active celestial type gps data for aiming your telescope

so it's 2am and I'm just sinking into the 104 degree hot tub when I see a falling star. No big deal, it happens all the time. But then I see another, and another, and then a pair racing across the sky together. Then the whole sky lights up for just a second as a huge piece goes blazing towards Alaska! In the first minute I counted 15 or so and over the next 6-7 minutes maybe another 25. They are less frequent now, but still falling, heading in every direction!

Some astoroid must have bumped it's neighbor!!

...is the sky falling?:aagh:

Way cool!

Although the view must be good from your hot tub, i sweat there are 10x as many stars in the payson sky as the Phoenix sky? :smug:

Did they give ET's?

Yeah, gonna need to find out the best time. Usually after I'm in the spa for a while I see shooting stars without even looking up. I think it's my age. :aagh::aagh:

thats the downside of living in downtown phoenix! City lights are way too bright to see much!

JPEREZ, that is only one of the downsides to living in Phoenix, I can't remember any upsides. lol But no kidding, there is way too much light pollution in the valley for good skys. Come on up here, Chino Valley. We have the blackest skys around. We don't even have street lights for that very reason,,,,to keep the skys black. Tonight is going to be the peak of the shower I think. I hope I can get up and go see it. I think they said around
22* tonight though. Wear your warm snuggles! :pinch:

I wish more cities were involved with Dark Sky efforts. You can even have street lights as long as they have the correct kind of shading that keeps lights pointed to the ground.
