This is the person who caused the whole damn thing, she walked away with a dent and no ticket or fine!!!WTF

Went over to ORI this morning and had Andy take a look, so my day got worse aperantly I would be better off getting a new axle, so here is my plea for anyone with a Dana 30 preferable with 3.55's but I am not picky that has one laying around they need to get rid of, I can afford about $150 but until I get a new one swapped inI am out of commision and cannot get to work. If anyone can help please shoot me a PM. And mad thanks to Andy & Glen at ORI for stopping what they were working on to let me use the lift and have a look and try and correct some of the damage.

Any pics of the axle damage? Bent housing? If it's just bent you might be able to take it in and get it fixed. I know BigJim had to take his D30 in for repair do to a bent housing. Not sure where he took it or how much it ended up being.

Even with the damaged axle I say Jeep - 1 / Honda - 0.

Good luck with th repairs

Sucks to hear you got your axle messed up! Some people cant drive in the rain! Too bad the police didnt find her at fault. Maybe after they write their report, but dont count on it!

Maybe someone has one laying around!

craigslist d30 $250 (http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pts/503182515.html)

x2 LOL! :smilielol5: That is so true.

When I got into a "fender bender" in my old '87 xj, I walked away with a cracked tailight and dent in my passenger door (it still opened though :laugh2:) The other car had the front bumper ripped completely off, and the other one smashed the front end in all the way through the radiator.

Glad everyone is ok, and hope you get it fixed soon!

Call your insurance company, if the report states some else caused the accident, weather they were cited or not, your insurance may cover the damange and help with a rental car.

Yep, and if it's officially not your fault then your premiums won't go up even if your insurance company has to pay (they'll go after the other guy). This is what you have insurance for, to have them cover these situations. Well, if you only have liability this probably completely changes this.

That really sucks. Usually, no matter what happens, if you were in back of them and hit them, you get the ticket and have to pay for it. If they suddenly slammed on their brakes and you smacked them, its failure to control speed to avoid a collision (I've got one of those tickets).....Sometimes you have the arseface who loves to cut into your lane at 30 mph while you're doing a steady 75 or the guy that decides to cut across 5 lanes of traffic and didnt' notice you - sometimes they hold those people responsible. At least everyone was safe. (I'd say your jeep won the fight though)

way to own  that civic lol glad your ok though

12-12-2007, 11:55 AM
Your rig looks like you've been wheeling... the civic looks like it fell off a three story parking gargage... Like AmberPoster said, if you run into someones rear they usually hold you at fault, but most of the time you'll know right then because the officers will give you the ticket that says so... at least that was my expeirece...

Good luck with the axle... what exactly is wrong with it?

OT... I actually had a dream last night that I drove my rig over the top of someones car... I seriously need to get my junk fixed and get out wheeling.

Glad your ok... The XJ will be ok with some love from the sawzall and the BFH!! Is the axle bent or just the bracket bent ?

x3 to what Amber said... since she was hit from behind, if they didn't find fault at the scene its a 99% chance they won't after the fact.

If she cut you off that needs to be determined at the scene. If she just slammed on her brakes then those who rearended are at fault because they were not staying far enough back to stop.

I rearended a minivan once during the rain... the Jeeps wheels were stopped but it just kept sliding. Luckily, no police involved and no new damage was done to the minivan (someone had bumped it before and the owners were very cool and didn't try to milk it to get money out of me). I still had to pay for my own damage (which was almost identical to yours on the body but no mechanical damage).

Glad your ok...jeep held up pretty well!

Yeah, jeep held up awesome!!!! I love that bumper, next time I am staying straight on instead of trying to swerve, as for the axle the control arm mount is totally f-ed, something on the drivers side is tweaked causing the seal to leak, the ball joint has some play in it, so there is a lot of unknowns right there so by the time I get everything replaced it would just be cheaper to pick up a "new" one for 150 and have some spare shafts for the trail :) Yeah the civic will be totalled, it was either tip over on the swerve or hit her, I went a head and took the hit. I have liability only so insurance co isn't gonna cover crap. Thanks for all the well wishes I am hoping to get a new one and pit it in by the end of the week.

Ooooooh ouch - liability only is no bueno with Jeeps being such a hot theft item...also with half the crap we do with them...There are a few inusurance agents on the board - I think a couple companies even cover the after market add-ons we all buy. (we have esurance and haven't had to file a claim except for a windshield in the 2 years we've had it, so I couldn't tell you how good their claim services are. Windshield got replaced right away...)

I have a great agent with American family, Mom wrecked her yota last year...they paid in a week with a rental for mom.....I kept them!

PS. Upgrade to some sort of fullcoverage......pay now or lose later!

Another thing with full coverage - if your insurance covers you and passengers for medical expense, it makes medical care in the event you roll your rig out wheeling or are hurt in some other sort of accident (even though that might take smaking a semi to penetrate all your armor).....Better to have your medical expenses and those of your passengers covered - plus cost of your rig.....Keeps you wheeling and keeps you from being sued.

Also my drag link is bent like no other, so if anyone has one that would be nice, I don't even know where to look for one.

12-12-2007, 01:50 PM
We only have spare tie rods off the top of my head.....you need that? i can rummage in a bit here.

TwistedXJ
12-12-2007, 01:55 PM
no tie rode is straight thx though, when I get her at that angle the tie rode tried to keep it straight but at that force the drag link just went. So I have one tire that is straight and one that is passenger side facing.

It is going trail by the end of Jan, guess it just couldn't wait till then!!! I think I have foud and complete axle now just looking for the drag link and Andy contributed the UCA.

Schnipe, thanks bro I am just gonna get a whole new one instead of picking parts to transplant as I don't know what kind of damage the accident caused on the internals.

TOTAL LOSS are you nuts it aint your jeep there is now way it is totalled unless you were driving it :)

Dustin, I might need some help tonight getting it out and back in

This really makes me wonder what they did to my XJ when it got stolen last year. When I got it back the front end was almost 2 feet shorter...

Like your VJC sticker...
I rear-ended a Cutlass in my YJ, crushed their car all the way up to the rear window/tires. My bumper was bent on one side and the ends of my front finders were pushed in a bit. Drove it home... Whew!

Next time there will bo no swerving, screw it the most I will do is try and stop I will let the bumper take the full impact

I don't know if it will work on an XJ, but I have a drag link from a 94 YJ. It has the tie rod ends, but I don't know the shape they are in as I changed it out with about 180000 miles on them. But the drag link is straight. Its yours if you want it. Give me a call if interested. (480) 218-8885.

You might want to check but I'm sure your XJ has a HP (High Pinion) 30, and the TJ's have Low Pinions. Might make a differance on your alignment and pinion angle.
