If you are interested in bidding let me know.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Good Morning Don,
That should not be a problem to stop by and talk to you. There is a $79.00 estimate charge, however if you do have us perform the work, you get that fee waived- credited back to you. Let me know if this works out and lets go from there.

Mike

Mike,
Since I am asking you to stop by and bid on a tankless hot water install which is about a $2500 job+/- I simply cannot and will not spend $79 for you to bid. That said, I charge a bidders fee of, interestingly enough of $79. However if you are the winning bidder you get the fee waived-credited back to you.

Upon receipt of your payment I will set a time and date and we can go from there.

Don

That could be a new line of work... I'll just start charging for bidding with no intent of getting the job. I could do about a 100 bids a day!

Good for you...I was buying a $2500.00 Shed from Home Depot....They said because I live more than 30 miles away from the store I would have to pay an Extra $50.00 for Gas ... I told them That Lowes was less than 30 miles from my house....They dropped the $50.00 charge Happily.....:smug:

I could do it cheaper! I'll just charge $55 for a bid!

wow. that's pretty rediculous. My dad had his own tile installation company in Arizona, as did Ben's dad (weird coincidence).....They never charged for bids...it would have drastically cut their business - and as a consumer, I'd be leary of having any company come provide me a service if they were going to charge for the estimate. Wouldn't that just scream "We have so many people decline to use our services after we go out and meet them that we had to start charging them for the initial estimate"?

Don't like the fee dont use the company. The fee helps keep away the tire kickers.

Thats too funny!!!!

I had a guy show up for an estimate on storm damage to my house once and tell me on site that there was a fee for the estimate, I told it was fine and I would deduct the fee from the parking charge for my driveway.......He left quite pissed off

That is too funny a $79.00 bidders fee. Yep gotta start a new business we bid on anything. Concrete work let me come to your house and check it out, oh that will be $79.00 and I will charge you ONE MILLION DOLLARS, electrical work let me come to your house and check it out by the way you will need to pay me $79.00 for that and for the electrical work I will charge you a very reasonable fee of ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

Don't let the posting fool you, I am asked all the time what the cost is for an estimate, I want to laugh, I'd have to back in the door to collect it and look the other way as they put it in my hand.
Its amazing how many people pay for an estimate, surprised me at the volume of poeple that not only pay for an estimate but provide money up front to do work, why pay for something you do not have, doesn't make sense to me
Oh I;ll get a lot of flack on that comment from all kinds of business folks.:laugh2:
There oughta be a law.
