Can anyone considerably beat a $145 price for the ViAir 200H compressor? If so, shoot me a PM!

I hope you are considering perhaps a few extra bucks if it means buying local. It means a lot to support not only our vendors here but the local economy as well. And the goodwill and Karma go a long ways.

By they way... thanks Cole for the Locker last week:) See... I follow my own advice.

Yes, we can!

Wow, just read specs, that is only a 20% duty cycle compressor, hope you are not planning to fill 4 tires with it, especially in the summer in this area!

X2

I know that we as consumers try to get the best price and often that is of paramount importance to us.

BUT best price is NOT always the best price. One has to be careful of hidden costs such as shipping and HANDLING, special order fees if it is not a regularly stocked or even just out of stock item. Then of course there is sales tax or sales taxed saved by buying out of state.

That said there is the Best TOTAL Cost. Service after the sale, the ability to bring it back and not pay a restocking fee, expertise of the person(s) selling you the product when they tell you buy the other brand because its better or cheaper and better or you don't need to spend that much, buy this instead etc, etc.

Shopping around on the forum by trying to pit one shop/parts outfit against another does not work. It takes "X" dollars to stay in business day after day, year after year. Coping a deal today to save a buck may not save you anything in the long run.

I shop local and I shop with Cole and the gang at 4 Wheelers on Washington. www.4wheelers.com They were selling 4x4 parts down there before most of the shop owners were old enough to drive let alone spell 4x4 even if you spotted them them the 4 and the x.

Well I can go to the 450H ($265), which I believe is 100% duty cycle, but I will need to find a different place to mount it.

I was originally planning on mounting this in the little indent on the right side of the cargo area. I might be able to have a mounting bracket fabbed to hold it inside the spare wheel area. I will have to do some measuring.

I do attempt to buy local (hence why I am posting here!) but it does in the end come down to the final dollar. Typically, shipping costs -- especially on these smaller items -- are cancelled out by any tax I would pay here. So, for me, the price point needs to be at least the same.

I have the 450H and have it mounted under the hood. I have had great luck with it but mind you, they are slow to fill tires as they have a low scfm, I am considering a second pump of some sort to parallel in with it

Unfortunately, I don't think I have any more room under my hood (you have the advantage of the curved hood on the TJ).

Either way, anything would be better than what I have right now (NOTHING).

Is this for the XJ ? If so you can mount it inside your air filter canister..

I run the trailjammer intake so no canister... don't think there is enough room to run the 450H next to it but I will measure up.

Try removing the drivers side cargo panel, behind the spare. Roxtar (http://www.naxja.org/forum/member.php?u=4128) on naxja had a compressor mounted in there. Here is a pic, after he removed most of his interior. If I recall, it was originally covered by the oem plastic panel.

Markos, I looked... that would require relocating some wiring and cutting out part of the interior sheetmetal... not going that route.

I measured and if I design the right bracket I think I can mount a 450H inside the spare wheel (MOAB off a TJ Rubicon). I can just put some kind of quick disconnect plug in there to detach it in the event I need to change the spare.

That would be pretty sweet! I'm guessing that you'll have to cut down the threaded metal bar so that it doesn't interfere with the compressor.

I will be on the Sunflower Run Sunday if you want to make any measurements. The mount mine sits on is cut out from the stock front bumper from BRUZR's TJ!

I have an idea for a two piece bracket that should allow me to clear the threaded bar and plastic nut fine. I am possibly going to pick up the air compressor tomorrow from DesertFab (are they open on Saturdays?) if they have one in stock. If I get it I can measure some things better to make sure it will work.

My parents will be out next week and I will run my design by my dad. He was a machinist and CNC operator for nearly 30 years before he "retired" so he has a good eye for practical and innovative designs. It sucks that he still doesn't do that kind of work or I could get him to fab it for me and ship it to me.
