I would like to send a thanks out to TanTjJim for coming all the way out to my house to help me put in my water pump. I have never done one in my jeep and am not that mechanically inclined so I called up Jim and he came over and we (mostly him) busted it out in about 2 hours. This would have taken me a couple of days to do
Thank you Jim for coming out and giving me a hand it was very much appreciated

Hey, not a problem man. If I was thinking I would have brought my welder and we could have taken care of your exhaust at the same time too. Oh well, there's always next time, hopefully that next time will involve a lift and a locker as well:)

Jim,
I took the whole thing apart multiple times, replaced valves, lifters, rods, gaskets, oil pump, and a lot of other miscellaneous things. Jeep still has the knocking. Taking it to the mechanic sometime today to see if the can help diagnose what it is... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Man that sucks, I've been down that road many times myself and it's not fun. Hope it doesn't wind up costing you too much to get it fixed.

Jims diagnostic skills helped me out with my ride, crankshaft position sensor was bad, a little knowledge made for a very easy 2 bolt one plug fix that I would have paid a shop[ to figure out, thenks buddy

We had a different engine that knocked,(300 6cyl ford 1972) with what they said was a fresh rebuild. It was as strong as an OX but knocked under throttle. Turn out the piston skirts were cracked letting the pistons slap the cylinder walls. Hope that helps.

Oh yeah the cylinders were bored 40 over and they left the pistons stock:pinch:

Ahh FourxDad, that makes a heck of a lot of sense. That could very well be my problem.... What did you have to do to repair it?
I just took my Jeep to the mechanic the other day. They said the noise definitely WASN'T coming from the head... Something in the block. :(
