I found this on another board jkboard.com and always wanted to do a diesel swap and there are a few out there to chose from:
It would seem the 4bt would be the most economical way to go??
Cummins 4bt 3.9 (found in bread trucks)
Cummins B3.3
VM Motori 2.8 (Jeep liberty CRD)
Here's one for sale that appears to be a Jeep unlimited prototype? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-one-of-a-kind-proto-type-jeep_W0QQitemZ330191053672QQihZ014QQcategoryZ80765 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Found this guy on Ebay too (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CUMMINS-4BTA-3-9-liter-DIESEL-P7100-pump-JEEP-WRANGLER_W0QQitemZ220180070872QQihZ012QQcategoryZ3 3615QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
TJ with Cummins 4bt (http://web.mac.com/my96z28ss/iWeb/Jeep/Welcome.html)

I'm curious about registering these vehicles. Obviously diesel has a much higher particulate count than gas engines do. I thought I heard somewhere that you're golden if you have an engine that's at least the same year or newer than the one that came out of your vehicle... not sure how that relates to switching from gas to diesel?

All you have to do is tell them its a diesel. Thats what I was told by a guy who did the swap in his FSJ

I heard the same thing?? Not 100% sure, It would seem that a motor swap would be easier here..than in CA!!

I do not think based on information I have read you will ever see a CRD/Diesel in a 2dr jeep. Yes, the 4dr Jeep will most likley see a CRD/Diesel cummins 2.8l 4 banger 338 Ft torque is what I hear!
did you change your mind about selling your jeep Jason?
Yes......If jeep does come out with a CRD option for the 4dr, likely I will sell in a hurry!!! Otherwise I may just so this Cummins 4BT swap and call it good!.
