Oh, Glorious Mac Lords--I humbly beseech you to shine your luminous wisdom upon me! :D
I have Mac friends tell me Sony is the best external burner to buy for a Mac, but even then, which Sony? What is the difference between a DRX 830 UL-T vs. 830 vs. 720? I can't seem to find anything online that tells me what is the newest version and/or what the difference is between them. Software bundle?
I just want something to get all the pics and graphic files off of our hard drives (iMac and iBook) and occasionally burn a movie.
Thanks in advance for your beneficent attention! :D

You're not going to get much response with your educated Sedonian hippie talk, Nena. With thread subjects (AKA spelling jewels) such as " sycammore fluded???" you're definitely not among your peers here. :stooge_larry: :mickey:

I have a mac and actually use a Lacie drive (the external hd), I haven't had any issues with it, I haven't ever had sony drives though
:)
what kind of mac is it? i'm surprised it doesn't have an internal dvd burner if it is a new one...
basically the difference between these two models is the burn speed the 830 has a burn speed of 18x and the 720 has a burn speed of 16x
if its a difference in price I would just go with the 720, the only difference in burn speed is one minute for a full 4gb dvd
however upon researching this i learned that the 720 has been discontinued, however if you find a sony outlet you might be able to find one cheap

I know you're producing your own movies on the side but remember Joe has made it very clear that this is a family board so don't "flud" us with your warez. :)

I knew your mind would go there, Mike! You are so predicktibell. LMAO!!
Shannon--thanks for ACTUAL info! The internal DVD is shiznet--everyone I have talked to with a 2-3 year old iMac has the same problem. It is cheaper and easier to buy an external than to try to get the internal fixed. Plus, I can also use it for my iBook, which did not come with a DVD burner.

I need to know more about your iMac.
Go to the Apple in the menu bar and click on "about this mac" and tell me what it sez.
Also do you want a USB or Firewire connection, or does it matter?
