Interesting Idea. I'm not doing any major mods to the website right now though.
I will be re-writing parts in ASPX using C#, it should make things a little better and alot faster. I'll keep that in mind when I get around to the re-write of the Gallery.

This list has a great personality that I think would be irreparable if the format switched.
I do however think that a BBS consisting of predominantly AZ wheelers would be great. Not just Jeeps but everyone. Think of the support that could have been rounded up for the land use meetings if all the wheelers out there who "don't understand" could be informed. The cutting edge rigs are being built here. Many of the best trails are here. I am sure there are more people who wheel here than most places.
I can't help but think that the AZVJC is probably the only group that could actually pull enough people to post and keep it interesting.

I can get Master Install kits for about $55 per axle. Do I really
need them if my bearings are ok? I guess it's good preventive

crush sleeves (the 8.8 uses a crush sleeve, right?) is it possible to
buy just the sleeves? I am *assuming* that a Master Install kit
comes with a couple sleeves, and seals, new carrier bearings, shims,
pattern-marking compound, and a handy-dandy instruction manual. (No,
I am NOT going to try to set them up unassisted.) LOL! Thanks for

I totally agree with you.
But I think we need to have at least one separate place. This would be
where David could post all by his lonesome. :) Think of it we wouldn't

Having this board Unfiltered is what is keeping us all informed.
Separating topics and subjects will make it easier to read but you can
miss important information unknowingly.
I still like it the way it is.

The main reason I like the emails is because I get them chronologically.
AND I can sort them by subject. I also prefer to have them sent to me
instead of going to them.
Just some thing I like of the simplicity of the current form.

Subject: RE: Coversion to Bulletin Board type Forum
Hello,
Some of the BBS formats are pretty cool. I like some of them and they
usually have a really good search function when you are looking up past
threads. Not so easy to do with the Yahoogroups search function. We have
had a lot of good articles that would make for great archives. vBulletin
is a pretty cool format that some of the BBS's are using.
On the other hand I have to agree with Chris on the accountability
aspect of the e-mail list. Even though just about anybody can sign up
that has an e-mail address regardless of what they drive can sign up, I
think the fact that we use e-mail keeps the trolls away. Every BBS I
have seen turns to crap without moderation of some sort. Then the
moderation is often questioned and causes additional hassle.
If Mike C can come up with a private BBS that can resolve the problems
the other boards have and still give us all the cool features of
vBulletin and the option to subscribe via e-mail then I'd say it would
be worth a try. Let's wait and see what Mike C can come up with before
we choose sides on the issue.
Undecided for now,
Scott K

No flames at all. You also make some good points.
The big difference is that with an email list, you are generally more
accountable because you have to give an actual traceable email address
so, people don't troll as much. I guess it could be set up on a BBS
system to send out an email to their email address to have them respond
to verify their address validity.
Maybe I am just being too set in my ways. Is it time to change? What do
the other old-timers have to say. Can this work? Can these issues be
resolved? Would it be better or a cluster f***.
Doug B? Bill Mish? James Towle? Joe West? Scott Kruize? Sharkey? Hackle?
Stu? Others? What do you old-timers think?

True. Each and every post has a persons name next to it if you use
e-mail. In BBS format the respondents names get buried under the intial
heading. This does depersonalize it. Good points Chris.

Thanks Jim, Bill, and Stu. I agrre with all that has been said by them.
We have a little community here. Almost like a family. BBs, in my
opinion, depersonalize things. Because of this list, I have learned more
about ZJs and YJ SOAs than I ever would have on a BB because I never
read those parts of a BB. I am also one of those people (yes, I'll admit
it) that would probably never read the land use portion. Its not because
I don't care, but because the other portions of the board (tech) would
appeal more to me and I just wouldn't "get around" to reading them. In
our current format, you can't help but read them and do something about
it.
Oh well, once again, just my opinions.

:) Think of it we wouldn't
even know he was there and all would be good. LOL
