Rick,

My guess is that your trackbar mount on the frame (driver's) side is
loose. Check and make sure that the bolt which holds your front trackbar
to the frame is tight. The easiest way to do this is to have someone
start the Jeep and turn the tires right and left while you watch the
trackbar at the frame side... I'm betting you'll see it move. Tighten
it to the proper torque spec (not sure what that is because I don't have
my FSM at work) and you should be good to go.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

I recently started developing a wobble when I hit a bump in the road. I
thought it was tire balance but after swapping front to rear it still
occurred. I have not change anything in a couple of months so I figure
something is wear out. I this the beginning of "death wobble"? How do
I go
about heading it off from being a real problem? I search the archives
but
they apparently only go back so far.

Andrew,
I have a 74 CJ-5 with the 360 V-8 (same basic engine), but I'm no expert either.
A couple of questions:
1. Are you getting spark to the spark plugs? If yes, then you may need to set the timing, or the distributor may be off a tooth or two. If no, then you will need to check your ignition system.
2. What type of ignition system? Points or electric?
3. If you are getting spark to the plugs, and you are pretty sure the timing is correct, then are you getting fuel?
4. When you rebuilt the engine, did you do any other work on the electrical system (coil, starter switch, etc.)?
What side of town are you on?

This may be my fault.

I thought I had the code set up so that Vendor posts in the Classified section wouldn't automatically be forwarded to the group. (This is so that a vendor may post several items without each going to the group, then simply informing the group that some items were posted to the classified section).

It appears that the post went to the list anyway. I will investigate and see if it is a bug.

What are you talking about, I placed a classified ad under venders and I am a member, how can this be spam? I simply placed the ad to give members a good price on any part that they may need from Advance. I am pretty upset that you would blast this to the whole group claiming it is spam. I didn't send it to the group as you did, so you in fact spammed the whole group and I think that you should send a retraction do to the fact you were WRONG. Thank you have a nice day.

Hello All,

SCOTT MCMILLAN is leading a Predator trail run on Saturday, August 10, 2002.

When: Planning on meeting at the parking lot Sat morning at 7:30am

off of table mesa road 8-10-2002
Where: I-17 north to table mesa road turn left go over freeway and make right on access road parking area will be on left side

Rating: 4.5+
Length: unknown
CB Channel:

Will leave parking lot at 8:00 am and head to predator when finished. we can disscuss doing ahnialator or some other trails if time permits.

As with many of the Arizona trails, Predator is not long in length, but it definitely doesn't lack anything for the ultimate 4x4 challenge. There are 2 - 4 foot rock ledges; ledges to straddle; rocks to get over or around and there is a good chance to do some body damage.

It is a favorite but does require a fully locked vehicle, lifted and modified and driven by an experienced driver.

It is an all day trail; bring lunch and,of course, plenty of water and your camera.

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Those look like split cone retainers used on axle flanges. I would thread

Hi James,
To remove the steering arm, you need to tap on the split sleeve tapered
inserts.
I found it best to use a big hammer (2-3 pound) and a chisel for this. The
idea is to smack the little suckers in such a way as to close the "Gap"
while forcing up.

As far as the u-joint goes, the way I do it is open my vise to just larger
than the bearing cap, center the bottom part of the u-joint over that, and
pound on a socket just smaller than the top cap with a hammer. Kinda tricky,
but once you loosen it and get it moving, it should get easier.

It may help if you think of me to know just how hard you have to hit
it..........

Hello,

I'm looking at picking up a front Dana 60 from a 94 Super Duty later today. But I believe it has a ball joint style knuckle. I've heard that the older kingpin style is the easiest way to go when looking at high steer options.

What are my options with the newer axle? I don't want to pick up this axle and regret it.

found out that a 3 foot long breaker bar with me on the end of it is
stronger than my impact wrench, lol (what would that be, 555ft# torque on
the breaker bar I thought my impact is rated some where between 450-600ft#,
I guess not over 555 though).
I digress, thanks to all.

Subject: RE: D60 high steer options ???

Okay, I did a little web research and found that the knuckles can be machined to accept a D44 style high steer arm. When I was looking at Nasser's Jeep I believe he told me that Neil H does this. If so, I'd appreciate it if I could get in touch with Neil.

Thanks,

Scott

Subject: [az_vjc] D60 high steer options ???

Thanks,

Scott K
