No she is not, lol
I wouldn't feel comfortable having to choose which women get in the
calendar and which ones don't

Hey Dave is your wife one of the Miller Girls!!

Doesn't hurt to ask... I hope.

Dave instead of the Miller Girls maybe if the Dust Bunnies posed next to
their respective AZVJC decal having Jeeps you might get a bit more of a
response.

Just a thought. ;)

Subject: [TR] Turkey Creek - Sunday, August 4, 2002 - Reminder

Hello All,

Joey Kulich is leading a Turkey Creek trail run on Sunday, August 4, 2002.

When: Meet around 7:30 am and start trail at 8 am
Where: End of the pavement for the Bumble Bee/Crown King exit. This is before Sunset Point.
Rating: 3.0+
Length: ~5 hrs
CB Channel: CB 4/FRS 4

This is going to be a fun run through the Turkey Creek trail. I am more or less checking it out for the annual run coming up.

Like to keep this to around ten vehicles. (like I could draw a crowd :) I'd like to get through this trail pretty quick and maybe have time to take some optional lines.

IF I get a good response I will change my afternoon plans to accomadate more Jeeps.

Hooks front and back and a strap for them required.

At Cleator you have the choice of going to CK (for lunch) or back to town.

Bring water, lunch (unless your going to eat in CK) and your camera.

Libations optional AT THE END of the run!

Joey K

The Turkey Creek Trail runs up the Black Canyon from Bumble Bee to Cleator. After turning left off the main road onto FR 684, the trail will split to go down into the canyon, and then meet back up at the bottom. Either way will get you down, neither are very tough.

Once down to the bottom, take a hard right up and drive up the sandy wash. Keep an eye out for a trail that leads off from the left. If you get to a wide area where the wash splits, you've gone too far. The trail runs between tight brush on each side, there is a gate that you'll have to go through not to far along. As with all gates, if it's open when you find it leave it open; if it's closed then make sure you close it after you pass through.

The trail at this point winds its way up the wash, in many places the trail has all but disappeared. There will be rocky areas to play on along the way. If the river is running, you'll want to make sure you have a winch along, as there are boulders and quick sand hiding, waiting to bite a Jeep.

Keep following the wash up, eventually the road will become more apparent. The trail takes a steep climb out to the top of a ridge, then drops off the other side. You will come to a Y intersection, you may go either way. The left branch climbs another ridge and then drops you back into the wash on the other side.

The right branch takes you through an old hermit's mining claim. The trail on the right branch almost completly disappears; pick your way through carefully you'll find rocky flat areas with no brush on them, this is the trail. After passing around the corner from the Hermit's cabin, you'll see where the trail used to go across a bend in the wash; now that is pretty much impassable. You can continue up the wash and around the corner. If the water is running, this may be extremely hazardous.

After the bend, the two trails combine again. The trail is much more visible now, there will be a few places where the trail splits, take the most travelled looking trail. Go SLOW one of these side trails (the old trail) has about a four foot angled drop off as you come around a blind curve.

The further you go, the more apparent the trail is. At the joining of Poland Creek and Turkey Creek, the trail leaves the bottom of the canyon and heads across the hills to Cleator. Overall, with a small group of Jeeps, this trail can be done between 4 - 6 hours when dry depending on how much site seeing you do. If it is really wet, this can be a weekend trip. One note of caution, this trail runs almost entirely through active mining claims; do NOT stop and start digging around.

Remember to bring water, lunch (and more if it's wet), and don't forget your camera.

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Hi All:

A friend and I are planning on going camping next weekend and I'd like to find out what areas are still closed so you don't have to come visit us behind bars. Besides, my name isn't Bubba, nor would I like it to be :)

Is there a website that lists what is still closed? Thanks!

Since Miller is a pretty poor version of a watered-down American
pils style beer, are the girls and Jeeps going to be watered-down as
well? LOL!!! Nothing like Jeeps and wet t-shirts to help determine
what day of the week it is... :P

Subject: [TR] Trip Report - Martinez Canyon - Saturday, August 3, 2002

Hello All,

steve sample lead a trail run Saturday, August 3, 2002 across Martinez Canyon

we chewed up MARTINEZ and spit it out- well not entirely true but we did all walk out, some un-scathed and some not. teamwork got us through and is great to see it in action. we only broke one axle on larry greene's driver's front. the u-joint exploded and twisted inner splines. i had a spare out of my YJ with a 260 joint. got larry up and out the rest of the trip. thanks to nasser, scott grigsby, steve james and richard who pitched in with tools, knowledge etc.

we had one dog- belonged to larry. 6 yr old ****er. he was a real cool dog.

jose went just passed the cabins in his GC. took the family on foot from there and watched us climb for a ways. jose says he will be back to do the trip after some mods.

nasser out-did us all with his ride and took the lead up martinez. he was a good spotter. thanks nasser.

mons/amber had never been on this run and showed lots of spirit- never passed up a challenge. they have the fever.

perry green cracked the top of his 9" tube and spread a little juice along the trail. we filled a couple times and he did ok. his carb was doing the usual carb thing but he just kept hitting it hard- showed no mercy. he wheels and mechanics barefoot so he must be tough.

eddie nordstom was the only stock height jeep but as usual did just about all the tough lines. he is a good driver. if he ever lifts/tires that jeep, we will all be in for a show from him.

and of course, scott grigsby rocked that XJ of his. he is another nordstrom- not the most mods but shows you don't really need them all to wheel.

richard broke a shock mount on the way out

Since Miller is a pretty poor version of a watered-down American
pils style beer, are the girls and Jeeps going to be watered-down as
well? LOL!!! Nothing like Jeeps and wet t-shirts to help determine
what day of the week it is... :P

Subject: Weighed my Jeep

I re weighed my Jeep, and after going full tube, it now weighs a respectable
4340 pounds empty.
When I run the Dunes or the Cinders, it will weigh 4065 pounds.
I still haven't made my Aluminum hood and side panels yet, but I will.

Hehehe!!!!!!
I'll bet all you TJ guys are a little on the "Portly" side!
I can hear Joe and Scott now: We're not Fat, we're festively plump!" (Like
Cartman on Southpark)
HAHAHAHA!!
Ok, I've got it out of my system. I caught all kinds of crap for how heavy
my Jeep was.
Just had to dish some out. (BTW, Joe and Scott never teased me, I just felt
obligated to drag them into this!)
