I need to instal an sye in a bad way but plan on doing a lift soon. My question is this is it worth it to get my drive shaft legthend and rebalanced to get rid of some of that vibration.how much will it cost /where can i get it done and is it durable.

If you are going to install long arm you will never be able to get rid of vibes without cv driveshaft. You will not be able to drop skid to help out then. You can do body lift and mm lift that will help a little bit. You are better off installing sye and driveshaft at the same time as lift. I ran mine with no rear shaft for couple weeks til I got shaft.

no i was going to do the sye and shaft together but will it be ok and cheaper to just have the drive shaft cut re welded and rebalanced or to just buy a brand new mind you im in on kind of a budget

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it will vibe like crazy with longer stock shaft. The cheapest route wich is not recommended is to install rubicon express hack and tap sye for about $90 and I think stock rear driveshaft will work, and I saw one on here for sale. You might want to call re to verify stock rubicon shaft will work though. I cant think of any cheaper route. There are several things that are required for long arm lift. You might want to save up and wait on lift to do it right. The other option is to install sye and find stock tj front shaft and have it cut down to use in rear. It will fit in the rear and cheaper than custom shaft. It will be about $80 to get cut down and balanced.
Here is link to hack and tap

If it is cv shaft from front of tj you can get it shortened and run it in rear with sye and not have any problems. The front is pretty much the same as rear custom shaft just longer. The hack and tap requires a different shaft though.

Hack and tap sucks it weakens the shaft drilling it and tapping. I have font shaft that is ripped in half I can double check in the morning that it will work in the rear tomorrow. I am pretty sure it is the same. I was going to get it retubed for spare rear.

Terron how much more of a lift are you going to go with down the road? Since you are talking about getting a new shaft later, and shorten one now, why not get the new shaft and / SYE now and lengthen it later if you need to? This way you end up with a beefier shaft. (no jokes guys :D)
I'll help you with the SYE instal if you want, it is pretty easy.

well i m planing on going with a 5.5 long arm kit , but i have to do it all in stages and dont have the monet do buy a brand new shaft and sye at the same time so i figured doing it this way would save me a little money till i get my lift done and can get a new shaft.

You might be able to find one used somewhere. I think I know where one is for cheap, but I would need to know the length. A new shaft is gonna be about $250 - $270.
I tried to get one retubed and I was quoted $130 from 2 places. If you get one retubed and a new one you are going to spend the same amount of money. You might actually get away with the same shaft depending on the setup.
Are you experiencing problems now with vibes? I have a drop transfer case kit you can have for free till you can afford the parts.

If you shorten a front there is no need to upgrade shaft later. Maybe put new joints in it later. The only think in custom shaft that will be better is longer slip yoke. Hey bill you can always give me or sell me your broke shaft if you dont want it.

I have a spare stock rear you can have.
The front I'm keeping for a trail spare since I always seem to find that one pointy rock in the middle of the trail :D. I got most of the bend out of it.
