96 tranny problems?

On the way back from the Broken Arrow night run I lost Overdrive. Jeep slowed down and rpm went up. I pulled over and checked for leaks and fluid and everything looked fine. It wasnt running hot and made no unusual noises. We made it home in 3rd with no problems. I have a 96 xj with 4.0 and an auto.

What kind of tranny is it?

Could it be a fuse?

Has anybody had this problem?

How can I fix it?
