I own a 99 TJ with stock axles, dana 30 and dana 44. It has a custom long arm set up with 35s right now. I am going to be going to Dana 60s front and rear. The axles are going to come out of a ford, reverse cut, full width. I have never done a project quite like this. Does anyone have any tips, pointers or advise they can offer? After my swap I plan on running 39s.

Pirate4x4.com youre welcome :D
Shnipe gave you great advice you need to log on and do some research so you understand what you are installing. I have done the install and I spent several months doing the research to do it right (and still screwed it up :)
Bottom line done right it is a great mod.

Thanks. I have done quite a bit of research so far, thats why I decided to go with a reverse cut axle. The only thing that worries me are my welding skills, I can weld but allot of the time it takes a few tries to get it strong and good looking. Are there any laws in this state (just moved here) thatwould not permit me to run full width axles on the hi-ways?

keep practicing and beat the crap out of your test welds with a HUGE hammer. thats what i did till i was ready.

Yeah, thats a good idea. Its nice that my work has all the practice metal I could want to weld on. Most of my welds hold pretty well but they look horrible.

no laws that i know of. but those who build full width normally are towed to the trail.

Why go with cheesy 60's ...
Go with full size 9" and HP44...
If your gonna go wide ...........:stupid:
It's legal.. But most are narrowing thier axles anymore...

I plan on towing it most of the time but some trails only go one way and don't come out where you start at. Plus some days I may just want to cruise it down the road. Thats why I want to keep it street legal also. So what does it take to narrow 60s? I think I will end up keeping them full width. Thanks

I am full width on my YJ and it is street legal and registered for the same reasons. I made up some of it in wheel back space. I am 83" outside of tire to outside of tire. In some places it helps and a few others it hurts.

Well if there are no laws about it and it will be street legal still then I am just going to keep the axles full width.
